I'm thinking/guessing that you are joking, and know full well who the maestro behind the keys is, in that photo.

However, for the kids back home, the ones who grew up never hearing a dial tone, THAT is the great Liberace, and none other.

No, sorry, Gambold, I don't want to offend you or other fans in any way - but to that very day, I had never heard/seen that name. So it was no kidding.

Although I was born well before this piano player and entertainer died. Might have been an american phenomenon in those pre-web days.

We had some white-grand-playing entertainers in Germany, too - in the 1970s and 80s. But you won't know anyone of them either.

Yes, Liberace was definitely a US phenomenon, here in Italy too VERY few people (all of them pianists) have ever heard of him.

Probably some more learned about him from the recent movie, but then again...I don't know how many people (who didn't already know him) would go see a movie about a totally unknown person.
