How do you organize your sounds?

Hello, I'm a recent NS2 owner. I upgraded from the NS ex which I was in love with. The NS2's new possibilities seemed like a huge plus for me, but sometimes I am missing the simplicity of the NS ex. In particular, I'm having trouble deciding how to organize my list of samples, synth patches and programs. It seems that sometimes too much possibilities can be a negative. In particular, the weakest point in doing this organization is that Programs and Synth Patches do not seem to follow any changes in the samples's location.
I thought that the best place to start was by removing all the samples I didn't like, add all the sweet ones that I love and THEN... group together samples by category - basses together, mellotrons together, brass together etc...(I thought this would facilitate navigating when in "rompler mode", i.e. need quick access to a sample sound while in a program? Just turn the wave dial to select a different sample). But once I did all that, all of the Programs and Synth Patches that were "keepers" for me lost track of where the samples were (if they used one). Well in fact, what's worse is that I can't tell anymore which programs were keepers and which were to be removed in the first place because all of them were disconnected from their samples.
I know that most here will say that the beauty of the NS2 is to build your own Programs from scratch. While I agree, there are still many factory ones that I found inspiring and wanted to keep for future use.
Anyhow, seeing that this is probably the wrong way to go about organizing my sounds, I'd like to hear from those who have been using a NS2 for a while as to how do you keep your sounds organized. Where did you start in the process and how do you deal with samples' location.
Thank you!
