Hi NORDians,
after software fine-tuning (
see here) it was time to go to my workshop and build some hardware: a tablet holder for my iPad. I've been inspired by what
this guy has built, so I copied his approach.
I took some pictures as inspiration for you
I'm not really a hands-on type of guy, but this was quite easy to build. The wood was cheap "waste" wood (6mm cottonwood plywood) from the hardware store, the 6 mm steel rod was cheap too. The most expensive was the spray paint (color code RAL 3002, carmine red) for about 8€.
Tools used:
- steel saw for the rod
- jig saw for the wood parts
- drilling machine for the holes
- wood glue for the two lower parts that hold the 2 roods
- pipe wrench and a vice to bend the rods
- sandpaper
Best regards, Alex

Very nice and practical! A small addition I would do is to apply a coat of varnish (satin or gloss) after the final coat of paint. It would match with the rear wooden cheeks this way. You can find spray varnish for a few euros in paint sores.

Very good! Just a comment, maybe I would have done the "lip" at the bottom of the stand a bit higher, so you can put other things (music sheets and so on) and they do not slip into the top of the NS3 panel. That being said, maybe the chassis of the NS3 acts as a stop...

A bit late to the party, but this is amazing!
I’m always struggling with the cheap fold-up music stands and after it fell tonight (with my expensive iPad on it!) I definitely need something better.
This seems perfect, especially since I’m a DIY guy.
How exactly does it attach the keyboard?
Thanks a lot in advance!

You'll need a Nord that has two slots attached to the back that are normally there for the Nord Music Stand. e.g. the Stage 2 or 3 88-note or 76-note but not the 73-note.

Fortunately, the Stage 3 Compact (73SW) has the socket for the Music Stand, too. Or the Electros, the Piano or the Grand. Just verify for your model.

Mine doesn't but it was an original model. I'm guessing from your comment that the newer revision does...?

Oh, yes, I remember they changed that. Together with the panel (added piano type button + some moved buttons) in Rev. B (03/2019?). Mine is from early 2020.
