Hello guys,
my Piano 4 display is buzzing. I can hear it when working in a quiet time e.g. at night. The buzzing increases when there are more letters shining on the display. I checked the issue on internet and this is a widely common problem of the new displays. It is such a disturbing sound and I believe as well a soud which does not suit an instrument worth such a fortune and reputation. Further more I wrote about it 4 times to the official https://www.nordkeyboards.com/support and in the past one month no one has seemed to take care about it. Does any of you have a similar experience - either with the issue itself or the Nord support reliability?
Thanks a lot.
Jiri

Re: Display Buzzing / Piano 4 / No answer from the support
The display uses a dc/dc power supply circuit that makes noise. It is an unfortunate characteristic of the technology. Functionally there is nothing wrong with the unit and it is the normal behavior.
This is not to dismiss your concern, but there is in fact nothing that can be done about this specific issue.
You will have to decide if this is a significant enough problem in your environment to take action. Your two choices are to accept the noise or replace the keyboard with something else. All of the newer Nords with OLED panels exhibit this issue.

On my display the buzz becomes very apparent when in List mode, for some reason. Not sure if it's just the number of lit pixels of something else.Yurash75 wrote:Does any of you have a similar experience - either with the issue itself or the Nord support reliability?
Also, the buzz goes virtually away after a few minutes of inactivity when the display goes into "standby" mode so to speak. But to be honest I really have to pay attention to it and be physically close to the board, otherwise it's not something I would notice casually and personally I am not bothered.
As to Nord support, yes, exact same experience, except I gave up after three attempts. I wrote them over a time span of a couple of months for the issue discussed here: nord-stage-forum-f3/nord-stage-3-88ha-l ... 19081.html, and I never got a reply.
Not sure if their silence has to be interpreted as "no worries, that's the way the instrument works", but certainly a proper worded answer is the very least I would expect from a € 3,500 instrument manufacturer. I hope to change my mind any time the reply back, but right now, also hearing experiences like yours, my first impression of their support service isn't too positive.

Re: Display Buzzing / Piano 4 / No answer from the support
I finally got an answer (after urging 4 times) - Nord seems to be aware of the issue but they do not consider it serious. Still my opinion is that they know they are dealing with quite a disturbing product feature, which will hopefully result in replacing this problematic display in the upcoming models. Not everyone uses the keys on the stage in a noisy environment.
Here what I got:
Hi Jiri,
Sorry to hear that you have not received a response! Normally you should have heard from our distributor for the Czech Republic (Audio Partner), but apparently they have not been in touch with you.
As for the sound emitted by the display: It is true that such a sound can be produced, but under normal circumstances - at a playing distance - it should not be audible. Feel free to get back to us with the video, describing your specific case. It is always difficult to judge exactly what the scope of a sound problem is, from a video, but it can be helpful to judge whether service/replacement would help, and if this should be treated as a warranty case or not.
Again, apologies for the late response - and feel free to get back to me, and I’ll get in touch with Audio Partner if necessary!
Best regards,

Re: Display Buzzing / Piano 4
My NE6 has a very slight hum, but it's only audible in a quiet room from less than 20 cm / 8 inches away. I never noticed it before this thread. This is a normal AC adapter working sound, same that you would hear at the back of any hifi amplifier. If the buzz you hear is really annoying and varies over time or depending on the information on the display, it might indicate a fault in the electronics. This assuming you plug your Nord and other equipment in an earthed power outlet.
