I've always loved this song so bit the bullet and programmed the following starting from a post by Buisbird and Africa_split sample by rudiratlos (Thank you!). I haven't ever played this out but learned a few parts for the demo mp3s below. I hope you like these - take care.

Sounds needed: Marimba in Piano Section, Africa_split.nsmp3 sample, Flute Sample for Solo, White Grand (or link one you like). Marimba available at the Nord site: https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... us/marimba

Program "Toto Africa p1 W": This program is used for the Intro, First Verse and End, with synth brass/marimba on left and Africa_split sample/marimba on right. The filter for the brass is morphed to both the Mod Wheel and Aftertouch - the MW allows for nice adjustment if you want the sound a little brighter and AT is used at the end of the verse (listen to end of mp3). The Marimba in the piano section is used for both slots, and the delay effect is set at a tight slapback to sound like multiple players. The sample and Marimbas are morphed to the control pedal to pull them out of the mix during the verse. For those of you limited on sample space, I've added a second program "Toto Africa p1bW" using the Kalimbas that are pre-loaded in the Stage 3 - the high end could be tweaked a little.

Program "Toto Africa p3 W": This program is used for the 2nd verse where brass is on the left and mono synth is on the right. The White Grand is blended in a little for the 2nd verse as well.
Toto Africa p3 W.ns3f
Stage 3 Program for "Africa" by Toto - Used for second verse with brass left (marimbas on control pedal) and solo synth right

Program "Toto AfricaSoloW": This program uses the Flute sample with OSC2 added with a synth Sine wave, and Marimbas from the piano section added using the Control Pedal. I found it easier to duplicate the sounds and set up a split for left and right hands. The delay effect is set at a tighter slapback than the intro but not as heavy so it wouldn't sound like sloppy playing :) For those of you who would prefer to play the part with your hands overlapping in the same split so you could set up another part on the keyboard as well, I also have "Toto AfricaSol2W" posted that also uses the Africa sample. I really like the Flute sample (sounds great on "Can't You See" by Marshall Tucker too) but you can try others already preloaded in the Stage 3 if you lack the space.

Program "Toto Africa Ch W": This program is used for the chorus. The MP3 is of the ending chorus where I used the Control Pedal to bring in more piano, second synth, and slight B3 - you can mix those to your taste.

Hey. I have some Questions about that.

The first sound with the marimba for intro and first verse. They not playing the MArimba sound, what i downloaded from the nordpiano site. See the toto1 file. Make i some mistakes?
I used the holdpedal to control panel. is that ok or false to? Sorry for that, but i not very well in that section ;)

And toto2 aswell to for the second part of verse.
Only the solo files are correct.
Maybe i dont understand how to control the control pedal ;) so i can hear the marimba. Cause in that split section is no sound.

Thank you and best regards
Reiner.

Hello, the details in Sound Manager for "Toto Africa p1 W" and "Toto Africa p3 W" in your post look just like mine, so that looks good. From your description it sounds like you may need to get a control pedal, such as a Yamaha FC-7, to turn up the levels I have morphed to the Control Pedal, as a hold/sustain pedal will not work in the Control Pedal input. Please let me know if that was the problem. Good luck.

Ahh ok. Maybe thats the reason, cause i dont have a control pedal. I will buy one and let you know here when it is working ;)
best regards and thank you so much

Glad that's all it is. The morphing capability of the Stage 3 opens up all kinds of sonic possibilities by being able to morph various controls (not just Level) to the Control Pedal, Mod Wheel, and/or After Touch. Here's a simple example of morphing the B3 and Strings to the Control Pedal and the B3 drawbars to the Mod Wheel. My "utility" program can be found at nord-stage-3-programs-ns3p-ns3pb-files- ... 15745.html and you can get to other examples easily going to https://nordusersounds.com/ and sorting by USER. Take care!
