Moisture and TS leads

Post by AllanH »

hi Guys /Gals,
Had a malfunction at last night's band rehearsal. After 3 years of zero issues with Piano3 and Spacestation V.3 setup, I had no sound...ended up playing an acoustic upright at rehearsal.

Got home and the problem continued... anyway, I then unplugged both TS leads and tried a spare one .... problem solved.

The suspect TS leads may have had moisture on them from all the rain/humidity we have been having this month and may have been damp when the no-communication tween Piano3 and Amp occurred.

Has anyone else had moisture issues with their leads?
( I think I'll carry a pair of spares in future)

my regards to everone on the forum,
Allan

Hi Alan, greetings from Northern California. Possible, but wouldn't they work properly once dry if moisture was the sole problem? Do you have another instrument to plug into to check? Instrument cords do go wanky on their own. Carrying an extra instrument cord is always a good idea, problems or not. With the terrible fires you lot have endured recently, I guess the rain must be a blessing. Best of luck. John

hi John,
Thanks for the advice. I have later checked both leads with a multimeter for continuity... One of them must has a break as there is no continuity from tip to tip... these leads were the plastic sealed at the ends type and thrown in by the dealer at purchase. 3 years of rehearsals and and 30 gigs later I suppose a break is inevitable despite me being careful with them.
Yesterday I picked up a pair of Ernie Ball TS leads. Haven't had a chance to try them yet, but I think it will solve my problem.
regards, Allan
