NE3 reverb sounds like sh*t

As i mentioned in a previous post, i think the reverb effect sounds terribly awfull... especially with accoustic piano samples, the sound gets blured and kind of "chorused".

am i the only one to have this feeling ? would someone recommand a particular reverb unit to make the samples sound cristal clear ?

Hello hadrien,

are you listening in Mono or Stereo?
If you want crystal clear samples, I woulnt use Reverb at all.
As for reverb units, if you accept digital ones, I like this one: Boss RV5.

Cheers,
Johannes

I agree that there's something awry with the NE3's reverb sounds. I loved the reverbs on my old Nord Stage Classic, but somehow these are different. I can't stand the Stage and Hall reverb (way too bright!) so I always find myself using the soft versions. They're okay, but I experience the same chorussing sometimes.

I know from previous updates that it's possible for Nord to change the reverb algorithms through a software update... I wonder if they're aware of the problem!

Funny, I think the reverbs are not bad at all!

I would really love a spring reverb emulation!!!

You could check out the Eventide Space pedal.

I do not have this problem either. I have both the Electro 3 and the Nord Wave and although the reverbs are not highly programmable, the sound quality sounds fine to me. I have recorded piano sounds into Pro Tools and it sounds just great.

Any reverb will make a sound more distant as Johannes pointed out. What is your monitoring setup?

One thing I noticed is that the reverb is fed through the leslie, making a whole lot of space morphing going on.
@ kamagul: yeah, spring reverb would be cool, makes more sense to feed through the leslie also.

I think it sounds quite realistic when fed through the leslie. A happy surprise for me since the Stage didn't do that. I agree that a Spring reverb is basically a must for a keyboard that wants to emulate vintage keys!

Hi, today i sold my nord stage classic and then immediately went to the music shop, they had a sale 2000$ for the Nord Wave !! Really gonna miss the nord stage, it had so much, but i really wanted something much lighter and that could load samples. To my surprise, the reverb is very much different indeed !! It was so easy to get a good reverb sound on the Stage, i wonder why they went with this reverb quality for the wave, i'm guessing it's similar to the electro.

After all a good reverb I mean high end cost lots of money. The electro has a decent reverb section for my taste. I usualy have just a little bit of reverb on each sound. This works good in the mix.
