Hello again! I have, as I have said earlier in this forum that I own Nord Stage EX 2. (88) And I also have a Clavia sustain pedal. This did not really stop working at first, it did actually "hang" the whole time. I had this problem earlier, but all I did then was to unplug the piano, and plug it in again, and then it worked. But this time, nothing helps . I have tried to go in to "settings", and change some setting, but nothing worked, except that now, the only way to get the sound "hanging" again, is to set the settings.

Do anyone have some experiences with this problem? It worked earlier today, but not now

Do you have a Stage 2 or Stage EX 88?

Do you have latest operating system in place and is the sustain pedal the model that came with the board? If so, if you have set the instrument to use the clavia pedal (I am not at my keyboard at the moment so cannot recall the exact setting name) it seems strange that you are having problems.

Have you checked to make sure the pedal is in the correct input and fully inserted (believe me you wouldn't be the first to make that mistake). Might also be worth unplugging and reinserting when the instrument is off.

Also worth checking to make sure that the instruments you want to sustain have the SUSTPED light lit.

Other than that, you could have a fault with the pedal.

I got the Nord Stage EX 88, and I think it is the "2" model, which has twice as much harddisk. Anyway, thanks for the help. The pedal is matched to the piano, and did work yesterday. My settings is that the pedal is "closed", so it does not hang. If I set it to "open", the sound hangs. Actually, I can not set my piano to a "Clavia" pedal. I just have Yamaha, Roland...And som others, but NOT Clavia. But it still worked. I have double checked the input, and it is in the rigth "hole"
But I have not noticed a lit light :O I'll think I go check it out now. And yes, the pedal can be broken. Luckily it's rather cheap here in Norway.

PS : Where is the light? Is it over the "screen"? The "ctrl-pedal" thing?

If you look just below the octave shift buttons in each of the Organ, Piano and Synth sections you will see two LEDS relating to PSTICK and SUSTPED. You need to have the SUSTPED led lit for each section and on each panel where you want the sustain pedal to apply. I only have expereince from the Stage 2 but on brief examination of the Stage EX manual on the clavia website, I think it is pretty much the same.

I've been trying to follow along the posts to see how your problem resolves.
To be clear, you have a Stage EX not a Stage 2? "says EX on the top panel, on the right". The sustain pedal is a different device than the control pedal, and therefor the menu parameters associated with CTRL Pedal have no affect on the sustain pedal's actions.

Sustain Pedal Polarity is the primary menu option with any significance to how the sustain pedal works with the Pianos and Synths.
However, there are some that determine whether sustain pedal works as sustain, or rotor speed with the Organs.

Sustain pedal:


Control Pedal:


Does your piano sustain with the pedal up (not depressed), or down (depressed)?
Normally it should sustain only when depressed.
In the event that yours does the opposite, simply change the Menu setting from Open to Closed or vice-versa.

In addition, each one of the panels can function with, or ignore the action of the sustain pedal by activating it's switch so as to be lit up: I hope that this helps.

First of all make sure you plug it in the right port (Sustain). Then check your System menu: go to system settings and check Sustain Pedal Polarity, try to change it to see if it makes any difference. If it still doesn’t work try another pedal with NS or this pedal with other keyboard.

You may also check you pedal with a multimeter. It could be faulty. It works pretty simple: in one of possition (either open/pressed or closed/un-pressed) it should make short-circuit. In the other position it should show high resistance.

PS I had that problem in the past. I was touring somewhere in Germany and my pedal cable went bad. I had to disassemble the cable, cut it a bit and solder it back to the pedal. So far it works fine

Hi Hanon !

When i press the pedal down, it sustain
I have tried to change the settings from "Open" to "Closed", but nothing works.

I did borrow a Roland sustainpedal, and it worked. When I plugged it in, the sound were hanging(sustain), so I changed the setting from "Open" to "Closed" (do not remember which way), and it worked!
- But after that, I tried to plug in my own pedal, and the sound started hanging again( just like when I plugged in the Roland-pedal). But unfortunately nothing happend when I tried to set the settings.


Do you guys think that I should install the latest version?
-How do I do it?
