Maybe this has been done before but since I had a chance to borrow the NS3 compact of a friend, I made few sound captures between my NS2 and this new fellow.

I did upload the demos on Soundcloud :

I play NS2 first, then NS3; then NS2 then NS3...
For the EP demos (4 and 7), first is dry (ne real difference), then Dynamics #2 (bright), then the NS3 only with the new Dyno Dynamics.
For the sound with EP 4&7, I copied the complete settings : effects, compression, amp on both machines. NS3 definitively sounds more precise and better to my ears.

For the organ, same thing : started with dry, then Drive at 7, then 4. Then few tests with the Leslie slow/fast.

The organ engine is definitively a major upgrade, as well as the dynamics for the new EP (much clearer and precise sounds).
Not to mention the seemless transitions which really is a huge plus !

I tried in vain to find a good comparison between the Stage 2 and Stage 3 organs when I was considering buying a S3. This would have been a great help.

(I did eventually buy a Stage 3, but sold it a few months later)

I will definately spend some time listening to the Hammond comparisons, and will consider another Stage 2 or 3 if I can find one at a good price in the future..

This demo confirms my feeling that NS2 leslie sounds "compressed", not very clear etc...
Stage 3 leslie sounds much more like my Neo Vent II - much clearer...

Yes, you can't deny the improvements to the organ and Leslie emulation over the years! (except for the reverb going into the Leslie on the Stage 3 and Electro 6...heh-heh...Nord...)

This summer I went from a Stage Classic, to an Electro 5-61, to the Stage 3 Compact...all within 4 or 5 months! I loved the improvements to the samples, organ, and display on the Electro 5D, but wanted even more (full synth engine, ability to run samples through the filters, more memory, etc...) And so I researched the Stage 3 very carefully before purchasing, as it is a big-ticket-item here in Canada ($4,999 + tax = 5,648.00!)

- Turns out I did not get along great with the synth engine, although it sounded fantastic. Not the subtractive synthesis layout I am familiar with. Some basic things I like to do with synths would require me to do lots of menu diving or head-scratching.
- the Dual Panel thing was always a nuisance to me, I never knew exactly which sound or panel I was tweaking. (move the filter, but only one panel would be affected...things like that)

I think the general layout and complexity, coupled with the fact I got a lot of enjoyment out of the Stage Classic and Electro 5, led me to feel I had way too much money invested in it for the features it had to offer. I decided I prefer the price and the simplicity of the Electro 5 (and to some degrees, the pianos, EP's and clavs on the Stage Classic!) so I decided to sell it. I now have a Electro 6-73 which I took in partial trade. Back to basics for me!

That being said, it was an amazing keyboard. I would consider buying a Stage 2 or 3 if I find a good price. It was a very interesting experience owning it for the 6 months or so...
