Nord drum synth 2 with Roland PD8 pads Q

This might be a noob question, but here goes...
I purchased five Roland PD8 pads to run with my Nord drums synth 2. If I patch them with mono instrument cables to the synth, I'm able to only trigger sounds off the centre of the pad and not the rim. I'd like to trigger the same sound on the rim and the centre - can this be done by only running a stereo cable from the pad to a single input on the drum synth?

Hi fireglory, welcome to the forum!
Good question! I think TRS ('stereo') cables will not help if you want to use the rim triggers of your pads, I think the Nord drum 2 (ND2) trigger inputs are TS ('mono'). I have a similar Yamaha pad which I have connected using the standard TRS ('stereo') cable that came with it, the ND2 simply ignores the rim trigger which is connected to the ring of the TRS jack. Nevertheless I'd still suggest using TRS cables, because I'm not sure if it is a good idea to short the rim trigger to the sleeve of a TS cable (but I'm not an engineer)
Cheers,
