How do you map multiple velocity .wav files to Nord Sampler

Hi Nord users!
When mapping .wav files in the Nord Sampler, how do you map different velocity notes? It seems like once a note (e.g.: C1) is mapped, I can't map C1 again for a different velocity (in order to get dynamic sound variation). How does one do this? The sample instrument in question sounds a bit different when the note is striked harder or softer.

Nord Samples are mono layer.

Does that mean that you cannot do that? Is there any other way of achieving something like that?

There is currently no way to achieve velocity sensitive sample switching or blending. It is a long-standing user request.
Even without reëngineering the sample format to be multilayer, an engineering workaround might be possible by allowing for velocity to be used as a morph source, but at present, there is no way to do so, and there aren’t any appropriate controls or buttons on the Stage 3 that could be used for that purpose.

As mentioned, there is no sample switching, but you can use the synth Amp Env Velocity and Mod Env Velocity to provide some volume and filtering frequency changes of the original sample when hitting the keys harder.

Are these the settings under "Samp Preset" in the Nord Sample Editor?

No, they are in the synth panel itself, it is not stored in the nsmp file, but part of the synth patch.
This is only in the Nord Stage 2 and 3 models, not sure what instrument you are using. Sorry if it does not apply.

Unfortunately I have a Piano 2. It looks like maybe I should try to find some kind of peripheral synthesiser that I can pass the midi to from my piano...

For Nord Piano/Electro you have to use the velocity settings in the SAMPLE PRESET tab of NSE, as you correctly guessed. See NSE manual for more details on those settings (EDIT: the "VEL DYN Enabled" flag is marked "Electro 3 only" but if I remember well should work also with NP2, just try it)

In case you have missed it, there is a way to assign velocity values to samples when you create your nsmp files from WAV :

Therefore, you can have 2 samples on Panel A and B and have them play depending on velocity.
