At home I use a Roland EV-5 pedal and the hire rig I have booked comes with a Yamaha FC-7. I've never used one before, and on my EV-5 I have the little dial set to 2 so that 'down' isn't really all the way down. Is there an equivalent way to use the FC-7 so that if rock my foot all the way back it will sound the same?
I've found the option in the System menu to choose which brand of control pedal you're using, so I can switch that from Roland to Yamaha and I guess it will make it so the pedal's response curve feels the same, but I'm not sure about setting that minimum value to be above zero? Does the Yamaha pedal have any physical controls to play with? The box in the system menu helpfully shows you what percentage you're at in real time, so I know that I want my pedal's travel to go from about 62% to 100% in order for my patches to work as normal.
I've also just read something on this forum mentioning that you need to give the Yamaha an 'extra push' to get it from 90% to 100% volume? Does that mean it will spring back to 90% if you take your foot off?
Many thanks

Re: Playing Yamaha FC-7 instead of Roland EV-5 (Stage Classi
My experience with the FC-7 on my Stage 2EX is that it’s fairly linear past about 25%. There are no physical knobs on the pedal, but rather two mechanical adjustments. They are described on the product page:

I used to own the EV5, but I found the Yamaha pedals to be more precise and durable. They are a very good value. The EV5 is now broken in the “closet of the dead” and I have two active FC-7 pedals. The only advantage of the EV5 is it’s weight.

The manual adjustment on the Yamaha affects the position or angle of the pedal when both off and on. I use one setting when sitting, and the other when standing.

However, when I had to replace my FC-7 (after TWENTY-SEVEN years), I never bothered setting that up again.
