Bundle question

Hi, I'm a new stage 3 owner. I want to transfer my patches to a rental stage 3. I saved out the bank, bank N, as a bundle.

I thought I'd try reloading the patches into an empty bank, bank P. But the sound manager software says "patches are already loaded on this instrument". But the P bank is still empty. doesn't seem to quite add up.

I'm just a bit nervous that the bundle is saved properly. How can I test it? Shouldn't it load a duplicate bank into P?

Thanks for the help. Darcy

Hi, Welcome to the forum. Can we ask you to not keep posting the same message in different forums, it makes it tedious to everybody else and so such posts are deleted by the moderators.
To answer your question, why don't you do a full backup of your NS3 and load it in the rental one?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did post this question before, but couldn't see it showing up, so I assumed I had not done it correctly. I still don't see it. Which forum do you see it in?

The main reason for not wanting to do it as a full backup is it takes way longer to load. Especially when the rest of the band is sitting around waiting for you.

But also, I would feel more comfortable if I completely understood the logic of how the software is handling this.

Why would it not overwrite bank P with the patches in the saved bundle? That seems to be what it's offering to do.

Is there any way to peek inside that bundle file, to see what items are in there? That would be reassuring.

Yes, rename the extension of the bundle file to .zip, then unzip it and you will find everything which is included

Still don't get why it won't load those patches into P. Must be because it already sees those unique patch names in memory.

No, u definitely not doing it when band is waiting, must be done well before the rehersal.

Full backup is the best choice, since you never know what samples were used by previous guy.

Also make sure that you bring the same version of the OS and the same sound manager version that you used when you did the backup. The rented one might have a different OS version than yours.

For sure, when possible. But often we are all arriving at the stage at the same time for our scheduled sound check.
