Introducing myself

Hi everyone,

My name is Joe, I am from England and have been playing the Piano since I was 7. I’ve played keyboards in a couple of bands and for a few years have been thinking of buying a Nord (actually the Stage 2, when I first began dreaming).

I finally have the cash together and will be buying a Stage 3 in the near future, so hopefully will be able to get hints and tips here. The only thing I am currently scratching my head about though, is which Stage 3 to buy. Aside, obviously from the physical sliders on the compact version and the different lengths of keyboard, is there anything Else I should be considering before taking the plunge. Thanks in advance.

Aside from budget, length, weight and physical drawbars, the only other real question is action. Do you prefer to play on a weighted or semi weighted action? The semi weighted is a good compromise if you're leaning more towards organ, synth and EP, but also want to be able to play acoustic piano sometimes. The weighted actions are kind of necessary if your focus is playing acoustic piano (or if you're happy playing other sounds on a weighted keyboard).

Welcome!

And yes, the answer really depends upon your needs.

My primary interest is a portable alternative to the Hammond, with some piano and synth needs, so I’ve been a compact user (2, now 3) for five years now.

You should really try out the different actions - Weight and action are the two questions when it comes to choosing witch Nord Stage 3. Welcome to a friendly forum!
