If it only had some external zones..

I am using mainstage a lot in combination with the stage3
Would have loved to see 4 external zones, with 8 assignable buttons and encoders(switchable)

It is a Piano, not a master keyboard (as the rest of the NP family so far), but you can always put it in Local Off and make all the Zones you want in Mainstage (including Zones that address the Grand as an External Instrument) then control them with a simple control surface, like a Nanokontrol or similar.

I'd love to have the Grand as my living-room piano. It would replace my Kawai CA-65, mostly because the CA had some recurring keybed issues and lousy Rhodes sounds. However, the WAF of the NG is too low: no integrated speakers, no lid and ... red. All the best and much fun to you luckier ones!

46 voice polyphony for sample synth section?! Isn’t that higher than any other Nord Stage / Piano / Electro??

Yes it is! Since there is no organ model taking CPU cycles, that probably allows increasing the synth polyphony, which perhaps in not very taxing: single layer and few tweaking parameters.

Well, the NP4 says 30+ on the spec page, but the comparison table in the NG section says 46 for both.

Not sure if this is just the latest achievable polyphony for both or a copy paste error...

I vote for the first: verified max polyphony as of today

(PS: @Mr_-G-the sound is generated by DSPs, not by the CPU/microcontroller; there can be one or more, Nord Stage series has a dedicated DSP for the Organ section, which is missing on the NP series, see this thread nord-stage-forum-f3/ns2-in-the-nude-t2647.html and here you can see the NP2 board, for comparison nord-piano-forum-f10/fixing-dead-keys-o ... t9756.html? ;-))

So it is more related to the much lower complexity of the NP/NE Sample synth section ;)

How many stage pianos will be released, till they finally release another synth. So boring...

True, Clavia's synth and organ lines are definitely lagging behind the stage pianos... the last time a new synth was released there were still the Stage 2, Electro 4 and Piano 2. And when the C2D was released, the Lead 2X was still in production! The company has clearly focused on the more lucrative stage piano segment, and given their continued success and growth you can't really blame them.

Still, this Nord Grand could be a landmark product if it's not a one-off and instead marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration with Kawai.
Clavia is no longer alone in the high-end, user-friendly stage piano market, the competition has learned the lesson (see Dexibell products, Roland VR line and most of all the new CP line from Yamaha) and Nord really needed something to differentiate from the others. Being the only one with access to a better action than the ubiquitous FATAR could be a very important distinction.
We'll see...

>Clavia's synth and organ lines are definitely lagging behind the stage pianos<

This reflects the market and the times. With the development of clonewheel technology, the appeal of a dedicated digital organ is only going to be for people who, well, play nothing but organ. Given the $$ outlay it's nice to have pianos and samples as options.

As for synths, that's an area in which I'm guessing Nord is not a major player. I don't listen to a lot of synth-generated music, but for those who do, how many leading "synth artists" are opting for Nord synths? They don't make a top 18 on this recent list:
