Warning: Nord Sound Manager does not run in 32 bit systems

As the title says, despite that Clavia providing a USB driver that runs on XP, Vista and Windows 7/8/10: "The installer will run on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7/8/10 and will automatically determine if you use a 32- or 64-bit system.", I just found out that the Nord Sound Manager v7.42 does not run in XP (it complains that it is not a 32bit application). I suspect that it is the same story with Win 7 32bit.
While XP and 7 might not be supported anymore, some people ( 8-) ) still have old machines used for trivial things like this.
The NSM v7.32 runs fine in 32bit machines so I wonder if this was just a compiler flag missing that resulted in 64bit code only.
NS2 installer v3.0 runs OK in XP, and so does the Sample Editor v2.28.

Best if you take your complaint to Nord, none of us here can reprogram it for you. :)

Well, Windows XP are from year 2000 and all support ended in 2014, so I don’t think you can blame Nord for this :)
It might be the reason to go for an upgrade

For what it's worth, my home computer is running a Windows 7 64-bit OS, but the Nord apps running on it are both 32-bit - they are both found under the "C:\Program Files (x86)" folder (Nord Sample Editor v2.28, and Nord Sound Manager v6.74). So those particular versions are both 32-bit apps.

Charming! However, I do not seem to have asked anybody to "reprogram" anything and I did not complain either.
I gave a warning in case anybody replaced a previous version in a 32bit system, with the newer one that won't work.

Most often people are grateful when a warning is given that would prevent some hassle later on.

Exactly but the newest is 7.42 and you need that to load the epianos v6.0. However you should be OK on 64bit, and I suspect that it might be a problem in 32bit Win 7.
I do not have such version to test, only Win 10 and that old XP install.

Thanks for the information, helps coming around some problems. This is creating problems for some users who are still on 32bit Windows Systems as mentioned in the threads above, but given the fact that XP is not supported since a long time now and Windows 7 is about to run out of support in about a year it’s time to upgrade to Windows 10 anyway to avoid any future security issues not being fixed anymore, and upgrading should be done to 64Bit in that case. By the way, although officially canceled by Microsoft at the end of last year the free upgrade of Windows 7 to Windows 10 is still available, though nobody knows when Microsoft will stop this - so better upgrade yesterday than tomorrow ;)

I don't have an XP computer handy but it should be possible. I have it installed on a Windows 7 32 bit PC.
Would help to know some details. How far do you get if at all in the Install process? If it gives you an error immediately try unpacking (its a zip archive) and run the USB driver & Sound Manager installs separately.
Run "sysdm.cpl" and post what version of XP it says on the General tab.
Check compatibility mode for Sound Manager, it should be set to "No compatibility mode"

I can't get the Sound Manager to work on my Vic 20, either. And as people around here who know me can tell you, I'm all about retrofitting. Some of us LIKE our older technology.
