Help, which fuse please anyone?

Hi, I've searched through the forum posts on this subject but I'm struggling.

I'm taking my keyboard overseas from UK to Japan, so want to switch the Voltage down from 230V to 115V. I understand I can do this with the voltage selector inside the keyboard. I also understand that I need to change the fuse from the 125mA fuse to a 300mA 'slow blow' fuse.

Does anyone have a supplier for a suitable fuse in the UK please? The listings on eBay etc all seem to be for a 350mA fuse. If anyone can help and supply a link that would be fab!

That looks good, get three in case - they're cheap and last thing you want is a fuse problem. Don't forget the different IEC cable too or at least a plug adapter (or two - they tend to get lost or break during a tour).

I should add: I'm still using the Stage 3 on the stock Euro 125mA fuse here in Canada with 120V power, and haven't had it blow yet. I have spares of both sizes now, but it's not as critical as you may imagine.

What a bad idea... what are you expecting to gain from that, given that you claim to have the right fuse?

Having a smaller than necessary fuse will only result in the fuse blowing, worst case. Now that I have the right ones I am of course switching it out. My point is that it’s been a few weeks of good operation on the smaller fuse so it’s capable of being used as a replacement in a pinch.

Using the larger fuse with the higher voltage would be hazardous, though.

You still have not answered the question. For some reason you have been lucky, but blowing fuses never happens at a convenient time. e.g. when you are updating the OS, or uploading patches and that might end up ugly.

I was expecting to gain a few weeks of use of my Nord while I waited for the fuses I ordered to arrive in the post.

Sure. The post seemed to indicate that regardless of having the right fuse, you were still carrying on with the old one, which makes no sense to me. Fuse blown while playing live, a corrupt OS that is a pain to recover, corrupted programs, or damaged ram are not scenarios that I would like to experience.

No, I’m not carrying on with the old one now that I’ve received the new, just sharing a data point that in fact it’s held up for three weeks, for me. The store I bought it from gave me the data point that it doesn’t seem to be an issue for their users to go on that fuse just fine but that’s their word not mine. That said, there seems to be a body of experience to suggest that in a pinch it’s a viable option.

And of course the converse is NOT true: one should NEVER use the larger 250/300mA fuse with the voltage set to 220/240V. That would be actually dangerous.
