OS 2.0!

Since I put my hands on NS3, that is the first time I came here really glad of beeing a NS3 owner!
As many users of this forum know, I'm strugling if the board since I bought it almost 2 years ago.
As I said before, I was waiting for the day to come here and say that NS3 is good as NS2. Well, if not today, I starting to think that this day it's really coming!

Don't get me wrong, I still believe (as I imagine they know it too) that there are a couple of tunings and refinements to be done on the next NS3 OSes, but at the first time this Update come as balm to me.
I don't want to rush thoughts or anything, as I'm STILL testing, but a lot of changes were done and all for better and now this starting to beeing really fun. Not only because the new things and rhodes samples but because of what seems to be possible to do just adjusting the OS. That shows us that they can really tweak it and do great things as the pedal noise volume, as louder releases, as the, NOW usefull, Piano EQ, as the pitch until 24 semitons! And a lot of another stuff!

Thank you Clavia! You guys are doing a great job! Keep doing this, you are in the right way and we're counting on you!

And Yes, It's me folks

I'm always reluctant to update the OS straight away upon release of the new system until bugs and such have been ironed out with the newer update, hence why I've stuck with my NS3 at OS 1.40 for the last 6 months or so,

Even though I've not really experienced any issues with it at all and certainly none of the problems that many have reported back unless the OS includes some significant new features I tend to stay behind the curve with Updates...but I have updated my Unit to V2.0 as of last night and can say I'm really happy with this update given it is more than just a few minor bug fixes.

I do hope there is more to come with added features(I would like to see the Ensemble Effect from the A1 added to the FX section if its possible in a software update)but its great Clavia have worked hard to rectify many of the problems,in such a short space of time with so many recent os Updates, many manufacturers just leave their users stranded with crippled instruments(Hey Roland!!!!)

Has anyone noticed that the annoying high-end hiss on some of the Rhodes sounds is now gone?

Aurelio, we’ve been head-to-head over some of your complaints in the past.

Thank you for this thread.

Bless and happy holidays. Enjoy your Nord. :)

Acoustic pianos sound has also improved for sure !

The response in volume / timbre is much more consistent now.

I guess that, in previous OS, ff samples was triggered too late compared to volume / velocity buildup, making the sound a bit too warm and the shining ff coming abruptly only at higher velocity, increasing the timbre difference. At least it was my feeling, very perceptible on royal grand.
They probably tried to solve this by tweaking the velocity curve in previous OS iteration, but I am glad they finally found the bug !

I remember a post (baekgaard ?) where sample / volume / velocity curve where mapped, showing NS2 (pretty linear but a little erratic) and NS3 (smoother but somehow convex). It would be interesting to see the difference know.

Eq preset are much more usable too.

Sound like everybody happy with this release :):)

I do notice! They're still there but much lower.
Even on Acoustic pianos I notice a low hiss, specially on brilhant eq. But tried Baby Upright XL with master eq on low - 0, mid freq at max, mid gain on max, and treble - 0 and there it is again.
as I said before, tweaking, but this is the right way.

Yes, It is what it is Analogika, I was very upset with my nord at that time, now I'm glad to believe there is still hope, and this update open some different perspectives in my opinion.
I don't think this is the end and there are a lot of things that still can be improved, but in my opinion, now the decisions they took were very eficient, and we have to encourage them to keep doing that.

Bless and happy holidays to you too! Keep hoping!
