I am new to the Nord and have been having a hard time figuring out how to split the upper and lower half of the keyboard into two different instrument sounds.

I can figure out how to create the split point, but I have been wanting a flute sound on the upper part and accordion on the lower and do not understand how to assign different sounds.

Ty for any advice.

The 5D allow you to split two sounds, but at least one must be an organ or piano sound. You can't split flute and accordion, since those are both sample/synth sounds. You can only play on sample/synth sound at a time. Your other sound for the split must be an organ or a piano library sound. A way around this would be to create your own custom sample sound which contains a flute and accordion split within the one sample set.

Thank you. So... I have something that has flute on the upper and the bottom has a grand piano sound, so I have been trying to alter that piano sound so it sounds more similar to an accordion or to add an organ sound, but I can't do that either. It's very frustrating. I am at work, but I am going to take another look when I get home. I just can't seem to change the lower instrument to something that doesn't sound as dry as a grand piano.

You can get something somewhat similar to a flute sound out of a B3 organ. There are variations, but a good starting point is just pull out the 8', and add 4' to taste.
The 5D also has the ability to trigger an external MIDI sound from its Upper section. So you could grab a flute sound from an iPhone or iPad, for example.

You won't get anything close to an accordion out of a piano sound. A transistor organ patch might get you closer.

Not to come across as one of the forum grumps, but take 45 minutes, and go through the manual, line by line, while sitting at your instrument. The limitations and capabilities are all pretty straight forward. It's worth taking the time, and afterwards I guarantee you'll have a better connection to the instrument.

I agree but ther manual states about upper and lower:

"These sound sources
are referred to as PART LOWER and PART UPPER.
For each Part you can choose from one of the
three sound engines:
• The Organ Model
• The Piano Engine
• The Sample Synth"

Which assumes you can use two of each - and I know you can't of course, just making a point about shortest written manual ever for all the functions and capabilities.
ALSO, the manual never once mentions you can play organ on both upper and lower - not just B3+Bass but also regular organ.

Did a gig once with a accordion dude, who played thru a 122 leslie. Wow,,,
