Random voice stealing / polyphony

Dear fellow NORD users,

I noticed a strange random behavior concerning polyphony / voice stealing in my Nord Stage 3 (OS v1.46) that was *not* there in the NS2. When sustaining a low note using a sample in the synth section on PANEL A while adding further higher pitched sustained notes using another sample in the synth section on PANEL B , the lowest note sometimes keeps playing (as it did on the NS2!) but sometimes is being cut. That's a bit disappointing to say the least ;-(
What exactly is going on here?

Here's a short video where the random cutting of the lowest note happens about every second time...

The NS2 definitely had "lowest note priority", so a sustained bass note was NEVER cut - which can sound embarrassing when playing left hand bass... Now this happens often, especially when playing arpeggios with a string sound in the right hand.

I hope this issue will be addressed.

Alex

Hi, i have had the same trouble, just roll back to 1.36 so far. See if you would have problems with it.

1.46 is still too buggy. Will be waiting for stable update.

Waiting for this also! My choice is upgrade to 1.46 and lose polyphony, or stick with 1.40 and get the occasional instance of the out of pitch samples bug that is fixed in 1.44. Sticking with 1.40 at the moment....

Yeah, I’m on 1.40 as well. I hope they’re not on vacation. Really need this fixed!!

Yeah, OS v1.60 solved this issue! See here: nord-stage-forum-f3/new-os1-60-t16608.html#p109710

I'm currently programming the sounds from the Nord electro 3 in the stage 3. I noticed that the voice stealing bug in the 1.60 is still present. I used the sample string orchestra from the Nord libary. Attack about 0.5 seconds, relase about 6 seconds. If I press the key with a high velocity, followed by a low velocity, the sound is sometimes cut off. Here are 3 examples on youtube:

This is not with my Nord elektro 3. Everything here works fine.

Does anyone have the 1.36 (Windows) for me?

Please fix, Nord!

I think the bugs pre-1.60 mentioned at the top of this thread were noticable when playing other notes, and not mainly repeating the same note(s). And I think the one above has been fixed (including the bug that sometimes caused it to NOT sound a note you played).

in your examples, it is a question of how a repetition of the same note should impact the previously sounding note(s), and how repeated activations of the same note should sound. This can also depend on whether you're in polyphonic or monophonic mode.

I seem to remember seeing this issue raised also somewhere (and have noticed it here/reported it too), so there is hope this can be fixed as well.
