Nord Electro 3: Input P2

Post by silvio_gremio »

Hello Nord guys,

I can hear P2 input when I am using the headphone, but, when I set my Nord Electro 3 with P10, the sound of the keyboard sounds in the speakers but the sound that is in p2 input does not. Why?

Is it possible?
My scenarium is like this, I use a cellphone executing a continuous pad (P2 input), and the keyboard connected to speakers by p10. Just the keyboard sound can be heard.
When I use the headphone and the continuous pad (P2 input) running in my cellphone, I can hear bouth, the keyboard sound and the other one that is connected in p2 input.

Regards,
Sílvio

This is by design, and how it works. If you need the input to be sent to the output speakers, you can either 1) upgrade to a Stage 3, 2) use the headphone outputs to connect to your speakers (this generally works well with a proper cable), or 3) use an external (small) mixer to send the output from your cellphone to the speakers and mix it with your keyboard sound.

I got it, actually I am using a cable Y, with two outputs to connect my cellphone to the speakers but I was wondering if would be a better way to do that.

tak skal du have my friend!

Some think it is a bad idea. See http://www.rane.com/note109.html

The two are not mutually exclusive :-) I have made a "Y-cable" type of connector (actually a TRS Stereo to TS Mono) that "converts" stereo to mono using a simple resistive circuitry similar to the one in the link. So you can build in the passive electronics in the cable, if you want.

But otherwise I agree; it's usually not a good idea just to "add" two outputs together, although I'm yet to see any components being fried when it happens.
