1 Note of Piano sounds much louder than rest

Postby BluesxAlice » 31 May 2018, 12:26

Hi,

As regards my NORD PIANO 88, I have this week experienced the following: 1 Note sounds much much louder than rest (Ab6). Until now it has worked fine. I would like to know if any of you guys have experienced this issue and any ideas about how to solve this problem. I did reset the sound system but the problem didn't disappeared.

Thanks!

J

That sounds like a mechanical problem, either a dusty contact or broken contact. You may want to talk to a reputable keyboard technician about a repair. Messing around inside your Nord is not for the faint of heart unless you are comfortable with electronics repair.

There are some other threads on here if you're feeling brave however, about opening the case and cleaning out dust/gunk from the contacts.

This is why I keep all my boards religiously covered when not in use. I had an M-Audio Keystation 88 that went bad in this way, and tried to fix the contact strip myself - shortly after that disaster (I am admittedly *completely* mechanically inept) I bought my NP2 :-)
