Moog sound with Lead A1

Hello,
I want to buy the Sub 37 and lead A1. I have to get one at a time though, can't afford both at once. My question is can Nord Lead A1 make thick/phat/smooth leads like the Moog can? (Think Cory Henry,Shaun Martin, snarky puppy). I know it can't imitate because it's NOT a Moog, but will I be able to make really great leads with the A1? If so, I'd get that one first and add the Sub 37 second. Any experience with the two? Or if you've owned/player both what were your experiences? And I am an experienced piano player/keyboardist, not a hobbyist or tinkerer.(although nothing wrong with that at all!)
Thanks.

Hi, Z-
Post a clip of the sound you are looking for and I will give it a shot on my A1. The A1 is extremely flexible for a VA and I have already programmed a number of very satisfying leads on it, although not modeled after Moog.

There has been a similar discussion a few months ago. You may want to use the search engine

I own both a SSQ37 and an A1r (two actually). Get the Nord first, it can approximate the Moog well enough to hold you till you get save up for it.
And frankly you might be happy enough without the Moog. Build quality is better on the Nords. (In my experience.)

I agree with SA. The A1 is not a Moog, but it certainly emulate it. This patch only uses two of the four slots on the A1, and took about 20 minutes, so I did not spend a lot of time. And I don't have anywheres near that guys keyboard skills.

Nice patch dj - that's also what I was gunning for by adding an A1 to my Electro 5. Not having the keyboard skills of Cory Henry is approximately everybody. I saw his Funk Apostles in Zurich last year. Cory Henry and Nick Semrad in one band?! Spent the whole evening in awe. A Prophet 8, a Stage 2, a Moog sub, a B3 and two guys who know how to use them. There might have been some other people in the band too, didn't notice.

Hey, can you explain why you used two slots? Thanks

Sure-
I used two because I needed to blend a very smooth patch with the more aggressive Oscillator sync patch with some filter mod and strong resonance to approximate that attack sound.
