My sugestion for the next electro 7 it should be able to allow the electronic components to be upgraded by the user, so if a new sound patch requires a new componenet the user simply buys that component and instal DIY thus increasing the life span of the keyboard. I have an electro 2 and I am selling it because it does not download new sounds, which is a pitty! it is so nice and still works, so I imagined if I could buy a kit of components, install them by myself and be able to download from the sound library, it is good for the environment too. I believe it can be profitable for Nord too as there are many keyboard petential component buyers around. Technological obsolence sucks!

I still have my Electro 2, because I love the Clavinet and distortion.

It is fourteen years old.

It is ridiculous to assume that I would be able to upgrade the modelling and sampling engines. Even if they offered drop-in motherboard replacements, how would we get controls to match the new functionality?

Every Electro since the 3 (2009) has supported every piano sample until this past week, when v 6 were released.

An instrument is what it is.

My minimoogs never got an upgrade at all!

At least basic midi controller capabilities, like transpose and velocity curves.

The only feature I would like added to the Electro is the option for monophonic mode on the sample synth. I think this would be useful for playing bass or a lead sound.

Just sold my NE5D and got the NE6D this week... Man am I disappointed about the absence of the setlist function! In that sense it does indeed feel like a downgrade indeed. I made a back-up of the NE5D but it is not compatible with NE6D.

I'm curious to learn why on earth they removed the setlist functionality.

I have a NE5 - love it except for the really poor Clav sounds. Had to buy a sampled version instead. Not ideal.

Let's be real here - if they could just supply one patch to emulate the Superstition Clav authentically, then that would cover 95% of Clav uses.

NE6 not having setlist feature is astounding - I use that all the time!

+1 for the Setlist :-) As long as there is none, I'll stick to my NE5.

  • Better clav samples
  • Better amp models/distortion
  • Pie in the sky - an action that switches resistance based on the patch that's selected!!!

My Electro (not even a 2 - the original model, purchased new in 2002) still works; I took it out to a jam session last week and it fired up no problem. If you had a near 20-year old real Hammond that hadn't been used much for two years, would you have the same confidence in it?

Obviously newer Electros have got better features, and it depends what you use them for, but for my gigging purposes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Unfortunately this doesn't make good business sense, so they have to put something in the new model to make it worth buying a new board.

Sure.

I'd just make sure to oil the generator beforehand — that should really be done annually.
