I would like to do some maintenance on my Songs on my NS3C using the Sound Manager, but it appears to be limited. I can rename, delete, relink, move, but I cannot seem to add new Song Categories and I cannot assign Programs to each Song Category. Shouldn't you be able to do this in Sound Manager?

Am I missing something?

No, it' s a pitty, but the app is only a simple sorting or organizing tool.
It was very helpful to read all parameters of a program, as implemented for other instruments, e.g. my Roland.

It's just a librarian, not an editor.... And I know an editor is great, I have them for my Prophet and even if there are designed to be knobs tweaked, seeing all parameters values is a real bonus...

I ran across this AFTER I figured out a work-around. Simply take an "empty" song title and edit the name to the name you want your song to be then you can relocate it if needed.
I added nearly 300 songs quickly this way.
NOW, using MIDI to call up a Song title has been a nightmare. I can't figure out the MSB LSB settings and I'm going insane.
I try using 1 for song mode followed by the above two and get such random songs it doesn't make sense. I am successfully using MIDI to call up program files (patches) which I've done on the NS2 for years.

One thing I did with all my empty Song slots was to create one Song that has my five favorite Programs loaded (Piano, Organ, CP80, Wurly, Synth) with various Panel layers and such...sort of like a template that can do a lot of things. Then I used the Nord Sound Manager to duplicate this Song and placed it in all the empty spots. So each time I create a new Song, there is something there as a starting point and some useful sounds available quickly.

You can be glad that you have a SONG MODE!
This fantastic tool is no longer available in Nord Stage 4!

In meantime, I got to enjoy song mode a lot. That way, I play songs according to my momentary liking: Have up to 5 different programs ready at hand to select. I don't need them for different parts of the song but for following the momentary mood. That way, I may play an accordion or a vibraphone instead of an acoustic piano for a latin song etc. That's something you can't do without song mode, only with a setlist app (or I wouldn't know of one).

I am new to Nord. Not new to keys. Recently purchased a Nord Stage 4. Loving it by the way!
I've been playing on a Kronos since the day they released in the USA. Serial #99 It has "Set List Mode". This is a screen where you can built your set. Kinda like shortcuts to Programs, Combis, Sequences, etc... Simply tap the next box for the next song. Or let it be automated with MIDI Program Changes from 1, 2, 3, etc...

I don't have this on my Nord Stage 4, but I can see why you guys miss it.

Thanks to ALL who've jumped in to this conversation. First the suggestion to use my Computer with MIDI Monitor was the help I needed and then someone else posted a link to a patch library for all MIDI settings including using Song Mode and I've saved that for future. I've programed maybe 75 charts now to open the matching "Song" in Song Mode and it will be so helpful for my wife (the keyboard player) who's not techie at all. However, I've now discovered that some songs open with button 2 lit and others button 1 and so on. I intended for the songs to all open with button 1 as the starting option. I have tried re-selecting button 1 then saving the song again but it still will open with whatever button first appeared so any help with this is appreciated. (for my wife lol) I'm the drummer.
