Nord User Sample Collection

Dear all:

I was just updating the NS Program Collection when I though why not try a first version of a similar collection of user created Nord SAMPLES so here we go, the first
Nord User Sample Collection, check it out at

nord_sample_collection.php

For now, there are 136 samples but there are only MP3 previews for a few of them. Unfortunately I am currently not able to record some sample files myself due to not having a NS2 for the moment, but I will include uploaded mp3 previews as they are attached to the corresponding post. So if you particularly like a patch or two feel free to post a small demo of you playing it to the original post (the links can be found in the collection).

All credits go to the Uploaders who generously shared their work in creating those samples!!! :yourock: (maybe I should remain the group "Sharing Persons"...)

This collection is thought of only as an addition to the excellent samples available from the Nord Sample Library.

If oyu have any suggestion please let me know or reply to this thread, or if would like to contribute your own samples or mp3previews, just upload them in this forum and I will continuously semi-automatically include the new files (even attached to older posts). Plus if it makes sense maybe separate different types of instruments/samples in the future.

Have a great week!

Johannes

PS. If any of the people who gratefully shared their hard work wishes to not be listed there please PM me.

Hi frantzkb,
thanks for the mp3 link, fixed it - and found a couple of other mp3 links as well, now it should be more or less complete in that the already uploaded mp3s are in the list.
Now only need to get me a NS2, lots of inspiration to play with all those samples. will see when it will finally materialize...

Thanks!
Johannes

btw, just curious: MP?? Is that the french abbreviation for "Message Privée"(?) or is this also an english synonym for PM?

Hi,

I did the following things :

- downloaded the nsmp files from Nord's website to my computer.
- copied the nsmp files from the Nord Sample Library dvd (edition 1.3 - 29/03/2011) to my computer.
- uploaded the nsmp files from my NS2 to my computer using Nord Sound Manager.

=> checked for every downloaded file it it's existing and than what's from the dvd => copied / updated if necessary
=> checked for every files from the NS2 => same thing

I found very few differences, but enjoyed the exercise, I took time to read each file (still have to make some choices and hear them).

Here is a list of that Nord Sample Library, in "Excel XLS" format, with categories.
The columns are from Nord dvd directories, which reflects the web site organisation.
NordSampleLibraryList.xls
Nord Sample Library List
(103.5 KiB) Downloaded 2422 times
Feel free Johannes, Hanon, any moderator, to put this file where it should please.

I am preparing the same xls file for all samples outside "Nord Sample Library", i.e. for "Nord User Sample Collection".
I'll try to stick to Nord Sample Library 's structure to organise the files by categories.
The idea is to print both lists, so I could find more quickly what sound I can listen to when I'm looking for something, then hear and rate my favourites.
After nsmp, this can be done with synth programs, then ns2p (programms).

Hey frantzkb, great job!!
I also thought that it would be nice to have a list of all available samples (they are over 1000 from your list!) So it can be hard to choose which to load and which not. Even more preferrably (but a lot of work and might be not too interesting for people anyhow!!) would be to have a simple tone or so of each of them, but I agree a printed list already would allow to come up with ones favorites, make some comments of samples to use maybe later on etc., so great initiative!!

Here is the excel list for the "Nord User Samples" I have on my computer :
NordUserSampleList.xls
(10 KiB) Downloaded 1099 times
I organised the files by categories on my computer, trying to stick to Nord Sample Library 's structure, then used a tool to produce the excel file.
From here : http://www.norduserforum.com/nord_sample_collection.php I took the nsmp with a preview.
I left all samples from "RDMS Recording Studio" that have been given here : http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-user- ... c1402.html in a separate folder.

Johannes, it would be nice if we had some categories in here : http://www.norduserforum.com/nord_sample_collection.php
not easy, I know ... and it's already nice as it is

Just updated the collection by the great newly added samples, thanks again for all uploaders and sample creators!
As for the categories, its not obvious so for the moment I leave it as it is. But if someone had the time to categorize all of them I could send them a Excel File to get thisdone quickly.
I also tried adding the date but the page is already quite full so will leave it for the time being. After all, they are currently sorted chronologically, so the newer ones are at the bottom of the page.

a suggestion , if possible , would be to put the newer samples at the top of the page , so users doesn't have to scroll all the samples to see if there's something new.
I own NS2 since 7 days now , and this sample and patch collection realle saved me!!! hope to contribute soon with new samples :-)
cheers
