Interestingly, there seems to be a more chimey high end timbre to the synth in the live version performed by Liquido. Sounds more wet to my ears. Give it a listen.
But...now I just gave the itunes track a listen, and I didn't really hear the high end chimey sound. But what I do hear is like...more of a tremelo wavery effect.
You guys did a great job covering this song!

Thank you all!
Lord Nord, or Hanon, do you know how to obtain a sound closer to the original, "more wet" like you said? I saw on another topic (D 70 samples) that the sample "Mondopoly" seems to be the one used by liquido for this song, has someone a personal patch wich use this one?

Hello Fabin,
I believe that Liquido used an actual Roland D-70 for this sound.
I watched a couple live videos, and Wolfgang is seen playing one.
I did a sample of this sound, but the sample just doesn't quite capture the magic.
I have a D-70 in the studio, and will attempt to break down the sound.
The D-70 is an odd synth/ ROMpler which seems to me to sound somewhat in between the U-20, 220 and the JV-1080.
It's architecture is up to 4 tones per Patch, and up to 4 Patches per Performance program.

The Mondo Poly Performance program (I:47) is a layer of 4 Patches
Patch 1= a87 Lite Bell1
Patch 2= a88 Polysyn (a brassy Jump type sound)
Patch 3= a88 Polysyn (detuned for analogish chorusing)
Patch 4= a88 Polysyn (up an octave from Patches 2 and 3) volume reduced by 12%
Overall, the Performance program has Hall 2 reverb.
Velocity controls the filter cutoff frequency.
AfterTouch controls the filter cutoff frequency, and vibrato amount.
The attached mp3 attempts to give a listen to the individual elements, as well as what the AT controls.
0:00 to 00:08 Performance with all Patches
0:08 to 0:17 Patch 1 only
0:18 to 0:21 Patch 2 only
0:22 Patches 2, and 3 only
0:25 Patch 4 only
0:30 Patches 2, 3 , and 4
0:33 All Patches again
0:35 to 0:42 Demonstration of AT's action
0:43 Ham-fisted attempt at the hook line
I hope this sheds some light on the sound.
Cheers, Hanon

Hi Fabin,
it's just the unique bell part of the D70, the rest can be done with VA synthesis.
(It's not a ready to wear sample).
Cheers, Hanon

Hi! They sound great. But I am not able to install the 2 Narcotic files. I just drag them in to the program section D but nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? I use the actual sound manager and OS on my Stage 2
Thanks a lot!!
