The manual says the flash memory for piano samples is 128mb, but my manager says I have 123,3mb free when i've deleted everything. Why is that? Is it possible to format the memory or something?
Thx !

I don’t know for sure but if I were to guess I would bet you’re right.

Yes, you can indeed format the flash memory!

Open the latest Nord Sound Manager software. Under the 'File' menu you will see the 'Format' option.

Flash memories (including usb keys, SSD, and the internal Nord memory) have a few random defects. Like hard disks, they have sectors, and when even a single bit cannot be overwritten, the whole sector is declared defective by the OS. So their usable capacity is generally a bit less than the declared capacity. Worse, they degrade (slowly) over time. So your 123.3 Mb instead of 128 is not surprising. Formatting will not help, i'm afraid.

Is it possible that the Sound Manager is counting binary MB (1024x1024 bytes), while the specs are using decimal MB (1000x1000 bytes)?

That would put 123.3 MB at about 129 decimal MB, which doesn’t quite match what you’re seeing.

Edit: what you WERE seeing, back in 2017.
