List of Nord Stage 3 known issues/bugs

Intro

This sticky post (agreed with Johannes, and similar to the respective NS2 thread here) will try to collect and organize information pertaining to bugs and known issues of the Nord Stage 3.

Bugs

As a collective effort, the known bugs are listed in this google sheet.

Anyone can enter a bug, but please check first to see if "your" bug is already documented. If so, you may update the description as needed and add your forum nickname to "Reproduced by/Also seen by" column. Avoid deleting information that others have entered unless you're absolute sure that what you put instead is more specific or a better description.

When entering a bug, please be as specific as possible, and for reproducible bugs, please state a clear step by step instruction that leads to the bug, preferably starting from a factory preset program/song.

I may, as time allows, summarize the status in this thread.

NOTE: Please also report the bugs to Clavia (Nord) via the official link!

Feature Requests

Feature requests are documented similarly in the 2nd tab in the google sheet.

Previous Threads

There are many previous threads on NS3 bugs and issues. An incomplete list, which I may over time update, is as follows:

The First Thread on Bugs

Some issues and collected response from Clavia

Dual KB and Workarounds

Tone Wheel Emulation

Stage 2 vs Stage 3 Sounds and Different MIDI Velocity Curves with External Controllers

Bring Back Pending Load

General Complaints

This thread is for documenting bugs with the intent of getting them reported in a way that can be reproduced by Clavia. Hopefully that means they will be faster to resolve.

Let's try to keep complaints about (specific or lack of) answers from Clavia, as well as discussions on how Clavia conduct their business, outside of this thread, and mainly focus on the specifics of bugs/requests as objectively as possible, thanks.

baekgaard, thank's for all your valuable input on all the NS3 topics in this forum!
I am a not that happy NE5 owner, and the specs of the NS3 seemed to address all the points I am missing on the NE5 (more memory, seamless transition, 2 panels, synth, midi options)

I am still in the "let's wait and see boat" regarding my NS3 purchase.

With all the (reasonable) discussions here regarding (solved) bugs, ongoing issues and software updates I really appreciate the work you did with the bug sheet and all the clarifications on so many different things that have came up with the NS3 and all its software version.

:thanks:

I have been in the same “wait and see” position regarding the stage 3 since it was first announced. After playing the 88 this weekend, my only major question at this point is if I should get an 88 or 76. Even with some of the issues, everything about the board felt right to me. The buttons and knobs allowing quick access to everything, keyboard action that feels perfect for me, etc. I have extensive experience with Roland and Korg, so I had to physically play this thing to get a true feel of it. Never thought I’d like it so much after only one playing. For myself, a gigging musician who wants to downsize to only one board, I think I may have found the perfect one for me - bugs and all. Good luck with your decision.

That the NS3 has a different response from an NS2 on pianos is hopefully, hopefully NOT a bug. Unless they want to fix it on the 2. ;-)

(I‘m far happier with pianos on the 3 than on the 2)

Specifically it has an abnormally oversensitive response when receiving input from an external MIDI controller

Im runing NS3 and NE5, my midi out goes in to NE5....after random amount of time NS3 stops sending midi data to NE5. Its not cable, I changed it problem still remains. It was same on 1.24.

And another thing, while volume pedal is received by NE5, sustain is not. Its only recieved on NE5 when you directly control the sound on NS3 witch is not the case on other keyboards I see this as malfunction.

Sounds like same type of MIDI problems that we've been discussing on "NS3 Bug reports etc." and "Stuck midi notes with NS3 as Masterkeyboard" threads. When connected to other gear (with trad. MIDI cables) NS3 seems to have problems to handle MIDI. As said there, it seems to work well when connected with USB-midi. I was hoping that 1.26 would fix these because they said 1.26. has "MIDI: Improved handling of large amounts of incoming or outgoing MIDI data."

I have been getting a problem with notes sticking on my Roland Fantom X R which I have connected to the Stage 3 with a MIDI lead. I’m using the Fantom XR to access the sounds that are currently not available on the Stage and for more complex multi layer/split programs. My Stage OS is up to date OS version 1.26 but the problems are still occurring.
