Hey, I must be doing something wrong here and need some assistance. I have tried this a number of times.

I am in Program mode on the A1 I have four slots programmed exactly how I like. I want to create a split, which should have slots A and B on the lower split and C and D on the upper.

I have tried this also in Performance mode.

Press Slots A and C to activate
Press Shift+Split, hold and select the key for the split point, which is shown in the display.

The four slots are still layered, and not split?

Need some guidance here, and thanks-

Hi
The split need to be active ( the split led on) on all slots you want to use. You only need to define the split point on one of the slots, as the split point are gonna bee global for the actual session.
And as you already have figured out, slot A and B will always be lower part of the split.

Ah, I was actually continuing to hold the shift key. I guess you have to let go of the shift key before you press the split point key.

Now the split light is on!

Thanks, Bjosko!

1. Engage split = press down shift and hold while you make a snappy quick touch on the split key = split is on and the red lamp is on
to turn split of do the same again and lamp goes of.
2. to choose where to split in two - hold shift and split and press any key
The split will remain until you disengage it. even after shut down.
If you want a -right-in-time split just hold down shift and split (the red lamp will not be on) when you release the keys split is of.
A+B will be left
C+D will be right
Only left and right can be split = 2 sections
The manual is very vague about the splitting. I had to find out myself.
Enjoy!

Vague? This is from the manual:

Creating a Split
When the Split function is ON, the lower part of the keyboard plays on Slots A and B and the upper part on Slots C and D.
1. Hold Slot A and press Slot C to activate both these slots.
2. Hold Shift and press Split. This splits the keyboard in two halves.
Slots A and B will be to the left, Slots C and D to the right.

Setting the Split point
Hold Shift and press and hold the Split button. A note number will be indicated in the display. While still holding the buttons, play a key on the keyboard, this key will be the lowest key of the upper range.
