hello!
i am a guitarplayer who bought a used electro 2 to play a fake rock and roll solo during gigs. last night intried that for the firstbtime and the sound was really bad through a p.a. system. way too bassy. next time i want a good sound through a fender twin in a small club. can you suggest a eq-setting. i am really inexperienced pianowise..... thanks a lot, eddie

Well, don't be shy to turn down the bass. As keyboarder you need to stay out of the bass player's territory.
Also note that playing with a band is substantially different from practicing alone, where you are your own "band". As an experiment, try to skip the left hand completely.

"Fender twin" is a guitar amp, right? They have a sound of their own, e.g. frequency response and speaker compression.
Playing keys through a guitar amp is possible but it requires that you know what you're doing. If so, I'd start with an electric piano sound where you can use the nice amp to your advantage.

That's okay, if a bit "gimmicky".

The acoustic pianos in the electro 2 simply suck. The organ is pretty good, the clavinet is the best emulation I know (esp. with distortion and wah), and the Rhodes is okay with enough distortion to hide the rubberiness.

I just noticed that the Fender twin has a digital replica in my NE5, and happens to be the amp model in my Rhodes patch. With some distortion, as also proposed earlier on this thread...
I don't know how good or bad the EPs are in the NE2 but at least in theory it may be that you have a winning combination there if you crank it up (probably turn down the bass, the low keys are supposed to "bark" so that the fundamental note pitch is fairly suppressed).

It is correct to say that the acoustic piano sounds (there are four available) for the electro 2 aren't up to modern standards when you hear them through a nice stereo monitor ... but as you (OP) are playing through a Fender Twin in a loud band this is not going to be an issue with your rig.

The electro 2 is a great keyboard for what you are doing. I still use mine in similar situations. Using the Egrand, Rhodes, Clav or Wurli through your Fender gives you a great (and authentic) 70s rock vibe. The acoustic piano will do in a pinch (which is why it is there... the first electro was very clear the sound was an added extra).

That CP70 sound through a twin will be awesome. Enjoy it!

Just had a go with the E-grand myself through the Twin model (on NE5).
I never liked any of them clean, smells of pop ballad. But through the amp, try with "Lazy poker blues" 2nd verse and it's instant 1970.
