Sampling another instrument to use it in your Nord

Hello,

I made 3 midi clips playing all the notes at different velocities (80, 105 and 127).
I used a DAW Software to play the midi clip and record the audio.
This could be done with "Reaper" (cheaper if not free).

I opened Nord Sample Editor,
click "Add", chose the wav file.
click "Assign" in the "Multi Sample Per File Assign" option at the bottom

Just export the instrument to the NS
and got that ".nsmp file":

Edit: added the midi clips

Excellent tuto, and seems you did it very efficiently!
So how does it sound?? A demo for non-NW/NS2/NE3 owners???

The sampling quality is still there.
It sounds just like the original at constant velocity layer.
This is reassuring me about the potential of my Nord.

I was very surprised how simple and quick it is to do this.
Nord Sample Editor did a nice job.
To make a demo I should do it again with the velocity 106 instead of that falling/detuned 127.
Let's go ...

Hello frantzkb,
very nicely done!
Excellent post with screenshots too!

If you "save your project as" and give it a name before you generate and download, it'll name your .nsmp file for you.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Hanon

This could work in the Nord Stage EX 76? Because I canĀ“t import to my nord the nsmp files by the sound manager!

Hi Bruno,

The Stage EX does not support the use of samples. You need at least a Stage 2, Piano 2, Electro 3 or Wave to be able to use those.

Hi Hanon. I just got the NS2 and I'm trying to get my head round the sample editor but I'm getting nowhere. I've read the sample editor PDF several times but it just makes me more confused.
Basically I'm trying to set up a D50 Staccato Heaven program. So I've downloaded your nsmp file to my desktop. I've dragged it into the manager. Now what do I do ? The sound has some of the qualities of of the original but I can't see what to do next Please help.

Could you please uppload this as a midifile?
That would simplify things a lot :-)

Hi Totmusic,

It's not clear whom you are talking to here or exactly what it is you want uploaded as a midifile, but assuming that you are hoping for a midi sequence which you can play into your instrument in order to generate the audio which needs to be recorded to produce .wav file results for insertion into Nord Sample Editor...that's a SUPER easy sequence to write for yourself. Simply play notes in a consistent interval (minor 3rds, major 3rds, 4ths, etc), the "normalize" the velocities and durations of the notes. Almost quicker to create from scratch than to download, and you only have to do the sequence once. It can be reused over and over.

Bless,

Pablo
