Hi,
I normally play some hard rock, and not very familiar with synth sounds,
but I've got a request to play In the air tonight by Phil Collins.
Someone have a suggestion for the main synth ?
Thanks

Was a Prophet 5 on the original recording - there are lots of nice muted synth pads in the Nord library that will do the trick. When I used to play this tune I had a filter swell programmed into the aftertouch for accents.

Hi Guys,
After having read a lot about analog/substractive synthesis (and still being a newbie in creating sounds even if I have a NL2X and a Prophet 08), I decided to give it a go with this simple pad...
First I will do it on my Prophet 08.
Second, I want to start from scratch as the sounds that I found into my factory bank are too "sweepy" for this pad (too much filter sweep....). By the way how I remove the sweep? Decreasing the amount of LFO sent to te frequency of the filter?
Third, I need some advices from our fantastic people in the forum, so :
1) Wave
What kind of Wave for Osc1?
Triangle, Pw, Sine, square, sawtooth? (Cannot find the thread were it was explain what kind of wave to use for brass, strings etc...)
2) Os 4 poles can resonate). I heard that the 2 poles is 12db/Oct then softer than the 4 poles?
4) ADSR
Attack soft, sustain a little bit lower that the max, decay fast, release quite long?
5) FILTER ENV
What settings? Do I need to apply a lot, I don't think so because the pad doesn't evolve a lot in this song....
6) Any advices on Keyboard tracking etc?
7) LFO
Applied on the Osc or Filter? Or on Envelop for kind of slow Phasing or Chorus?
8) any other guidance before I start this WE ?
Thanks a lot in advance...
Sincerely

Just find a pad that comes close and start turning knobs... That way you will learn what the knobs do.
And watch some tutorials on ADSR. oscilators etc.
You could also download the
free Prophet 5 Demo from Arturia. Find a pad that sounds similar and look how all the knobs and sliders are set. Copy it on your 08.

I've created a synth sample some time ago. Maybe this is useful?
