I think my band is going to start learning it this week. I just heard it for the first time yesterday and have not started to dissect the keyboard parts. How have you found it working for your band? It seems like a cool and catchy tune, but perhaps a little bit monotonous with the same riff and chord playing the entire song.

same here we are just starting in it so will let you know. yes it is monotonous but may be a hit to play out so we try -- we have great singers so they'll hold the most if it. that's why I'd like any contributions for getting the synth sound.
I'm looking at 80's juno sounds but not quite it and hoping you or one of the patches gurus might help with it.

I worked on it last night and built a layered sound based on a couple of big synths with a little bit of phasing. I don't necessarily want to totally replicate the recording, but seems like a big pulsing saw pad would work quite well. I'll try to bundle my sound and post it later today or tomorrow.

Here's a program bundle for you. Like I mentioned, I did not try to replicate exactly what's on the recording, but I did capture the feel of it and this is a very thick and expressive sound. It layers two nice pad samples with AT vibrato and control pedal changing the filter for one of the sounds. I use a similar sound for the pad in Walk the Moon. Sorry I do not have a way to capture an MP3, but hope this gives you a quick speed pass on a good sound. There's a phaser effect on one sample, but I fluctuated between whether I liked it better with or without that effect. Easy enough to toggle it on and off.
FYI, I use a clap sample at the intro of the song and I also was doing some electric grand offbeat chords along with the guitar during a few parts of the song.

I tried it and agree - when the crowd goes 'crazy' not gonna make a big diff with the filtering, ha! but this is so impressive- thanks again! you've brought balance to a fun, inescapable song, that would otherwise be so dull without a Nord!
I appreciate your help with this!
cheers!

Awesome, I'm glad you like it. The sound is a great resource for other songs as well.
