C2D Program Change

Post by orcoaffamato »

Hi,

I'd like to buy a Keith McMillen 12 step foot controller to switch the C2D presets on the fly.
I tried with Lemur yesterday and the C2D responds perfectly to program changes, but I was wondering how can I select the different combinations of stops that I saved in some of the preset buttons on the left of the keyboards.
The 12 step sends also bank changes but I don't know how the C2D classify those six preset buttons. Any idea?

The preset buttons are associated to MIDI Control Change messages, not PC or Bank changes, as you can see in MIDI controllers List page of the Nord C2D manual

Looking at the manual of the 12 step pedal in their site, see in page 44, there is a way of sending CC messages, so probably you should be able to program something into a preset that controls a synth. How easy and convenient that would be, I do not know. I wonder wheter when using presets the PrgChng ability remains. Better ask them to make sure?

I tried to use CC also with Lemur, but the C2D doesn't respond to anything. I had surely made something wrong, but I can't figure what it is :?

Maybe you are sending the wrong commands or the wrong channel. One way to know what to send is first to record what the instrument sends out when you press the buttons (with a MIDI monitor). The manual states that the C2D receives and transmit PrgChng and CC as well.

Exactly ;)

@orco: on the PC you can use MidiOX, on the Mac there is a free "MidiMonitor" program and on the iPad you can use MidiWrench.

Check also your MIDI settings on the C2D, Global and each part.

I tried again and now I can switch the organ stops combinations saved in the preset buttons with CC and the presets with program changes, but I still have to figure some other things.
