Hi to all,

I am still an unexperienced user of an Elktro4 Keyboard.
In the Program section is a "live" button.

Can anbody tell me how to use the button, Wchic is scenario wher it makes sens to use this?

In the Userguide ther is ony a few sentences written.

Furthermore, are there any useful tutorials available? I have not yet found more than a few product presentation in youtube.
Are there some learning bokks or DVD's available.

I use it to make quick program changes while playing live. Saves time by not having to scroll through various banks to call up a particular patch. There are 4 slots - fill them with your most frequently used patches and they're instantly available with one button push. Another cool thing about the live mode is that any edits/tweaks done on the fly while performing are saved there until you change them.

The live buttons work just like normal Programs - except you don't have to press the Store button to save the sound, it is just saved automatically as you go along.

I would suggest this - if you normally play by selecting different Programs because you have specific sound setups in them you need to use for specific songs, then you don't really need to use the live buttons at all. However, if you play and just make up and alter sounds as you go along, then you could do this with the live slots, because they will always remember the last sound you set it to, even after you turn your keyboard off, so you never need to save them yourself.

Some people use them, some don't.

Separate, related question - is there any way of turning the Live buttons off? I couldn't find anything in the manual. It's just that occasionally I hit them with a stray finger - ok maybe poor playing style - but not what I want to happen mid-song at a gig. Of course I do want to use them sometimes, like with Set List so guess I just need to practice more at not hitting them or just use a Set List with the same patch on each for safety!

I'm afraid not.

I use the Live button for organ patches. In "Live" mode, the Electro behaves like a traditional B3, where the buttons and drawbars stay in the states that you left them in.

I have a Stage 2 and always have some often used basic sounds loaded in the live locations, piano, organ, and a couple of lead sounds.

I use it for my most used sounds. Typically:
L1 Piano/Organ B3 68860000
L2 Rhodes/Organ B3 68864320
L3 Strings/Organ B3 88888888
L4 Brass/Organ Farfisa

I guess it's like having 8 "favorite" memory banks without having to store them in your program memory.

I just wanna double check something I’m unclear about: If you use the live button, when you power down, do your presets revert to the way you initially made them (the next time you power up)?

I’ve set up 4 banks of 4 on my presets---that covers everything I would ever need. They are EQ’d, set up with effects, etc. But some rooms are different acoustically---A LOT. So if the room is really funky in a bad way, I twist the knobs to remedy the funkiness. I don’t save, because most of the time it’s not an issue.
I would hate to change all my presets because of one bad room---this is why I have never used the live button. Am I correct in thinking that I should just forget I even have this feature?

If you use the live programs, and make changes, then these changes are immediately stored to the live program in use. If you then power down, and power up later, the settings of this program will be exactly where you left them before powering down.

In any other program, if you make changes they will only be stored if you press the store button, and confirm.
