vocal harmonizer

Does anyone have any experience using a vocal harmonizer in a band (background). New models seem to work only on gitar-input like the Boss VE-2. Or will they work with keyboards too? Or is it neccessary to use midi as input?
Meanwhile I bought it and does not work on my Electro 5D because it lacks midi. But connecting our gitarist makes it work like a dream. Even better since I dont play with every song being the lead-singer

I use EHX V256, it's a vocoder actually but passes as backing vocals in "party" music...

For keyboards, it's better to use MIDI input for harmonisers, because it would be very difficult for the circuitry to try and detect pitch from any type of sound and any combination of notes at the same time.

I checked out the Harmony G-XT online. It has mic inputs and outputs, but no MIDI input. Are you sending MIDI through the USB interface?
Thanks!

No, there is no midi on the G-XT, it's a guitar based effect. So i conect the R output of my Electro 5 at the 1/4" jack of the G-XT , and it works 98% perfect as you can see in my videos.

I've always found TC gear to be astonishing stuff, and this is no exception. I'll never forget the first time I saw a guitarist using their polyphonic guitar tuner - I was almost jealous that my keyboards never go out of tune so I wouldn't need to buy one...
