For those of you who keep analyzing the teaser and hoping for a new Stage... have you considered that the keyboard in the teaser might be a prototype of the new 5NE with a slightly different layout? Or maybe something is put atop the keyboard to obscure it slightly or make it look different? Which incarnation is is - the 5D, 5SW73, 5HP?

Could you please stop guessing, the teaser was made for the Winter NAMM, it includes the new Electro5 and a c0wfunk neatly put it with the Oatmeal cartoon - makes me feel like an iPhone user with my (now obsolete) brand new Electro4 SW73. So what am I supposed to do now, stop desiring new gear and actually play the thing? :D :D :D

If they come out with a Stage 3... I'm pretty sure they're making an even bigger campaign and a new teaser or announcement. It'd be pretty weird (and ridiculous) a new Stage would be riding on the marketing coattails of a new Electro...

Congrats to everyone who resisted the urge to buy the 4D and waited for the 5 series. To all the owners of the somewhat new 4D boards... wait for the price tag ;)

For me at least a Stage 3 would have to be significantly more than a memory expanded Stage 2. I would like to see modelled eps and pianos which retain the realism of what we already have but have better expressibility (I find the pure sample based approach too "jumpy"). I think Casio, Yamaha and Roland have made some inroads in respect of this expression but I think their basic character is... well "characterless".

I am sure a 2GB Stage would be welcomed by most Nord Stage 2 owners but I personally would like to see something more radical...

I don't think the oatmeal cartoon fits.

iPhones are on a very clearly established product cycle. Each year, the market expects a new phone will come out. People generally make their phone purchases knowing this. For me, frustration comes when expectations are dashed... not when I don't have the best thing in the world.

Perhaps I make poor decisions... but when my Roland VK-7 died in early 2013- I needed to rethink my rig to retain the wonderful Nord sounds and interface and physical drawbars. The rig I wanted (and still do) was a new Stage with physical drawbars on top of a weighted controller. Due to past product releases from Nord, I thought that the next Stage would come in 2014 or 2015. I bought the newly released Electro 4D and sold my Nord Stage classic in an attempt to maximize the resale of my old Stage and to have a good Nord to get me by until the next Stage rolled around. I thought that since the Electro 4 had only been out a few months- they would surely update the Stage before the Electro. Thus I could get the best resale for my Electro 4D as well.

When the teaser video was released, it seemed clear to most of us that it was a new Stage... with drawbars! I was excited. I got my hopes up. Then they released the Electro 5D info. The value of my Electro 4D dropped, and it wasn't the product I wanted. Still clinging to hope, I compared the teaser video to the Electro 5 photos. I concluded that the video was most likely of an Electro 5, and I shared my nerdy disappointment here.

Now I'm back to waiting for the Stage again. I had hoped my wait was over.

@wjones: sorry, man, didn't want to be overly judgemental about your analysis, I just felt analyzing it now is like getting your hopes up after the battle's already lost... I get where you're coming from, I've got a still new "freshly depreciated" 4SW73 and share your disappointment :(

At this point I'm just hoping they bump the 5E into a higher price bracket... but following the "Nord Electro is clearly competing with the Hammond SK" logic, the board will be similarly priced, perhaps even lower...

Thanks zingy :) I just needed to vent a bit. For now...back to waiting for the stage- perhaps it'll come in a week... perhaps in a year. Time will tell. It'll be even more exciting when it comes, eh? (So long as they throw some real drawbars on the compact model!)

It looks like the prototype everyone is mentioning is right on nord's home page.

You can see the banner image is missing the keyboard split button and has a knob in it's place, just like the teaser video.
