Seems like there is a new Grand Piano Sample on the board called HiFi Piano.
When I pull up the HiFi patch and press the info button, it shows it as a Yamaha S6 and Royal Grand - so I think it's just a preset built on the Royal Grand. However, I rather like it....

If I understand your question correctly, if I, say, layer two pianos, and set the volume sliders at 75% for Layer A, and 50% for Layer B and then store it - then when I recall the patch after otherwise messing about, the slider LED's will illuminate to the correct levels set when storing the patch, even though the physical sliders are not in that position.
When I subsequently move a slider, then it will sync with the LED's, as you would expect it to....
This is exactly how it works on the NW2, so it follows that the NS4 would behave the same, as the architecture essentially the same-

But does it JUMP to that value, or does it follow the physical fader only after you “pick it up” by passing its stored value?

The way it's worded it sounds like it jumps to the fader position instantly once you move it a little, which is too bad.
Let's say you switch layers while performing and you want to adjust the volume. If the fader is in the top position but the actual volume is very low, it will become very loud for a moment before you pull down the fader.
It would be nice if you could set up the behavior of all faders and poti style knobs. I'm pretty sure that this would be technically possible.

As soon as you touch the slider, the LED's jump to match the position of the slider. It does not pick up the LED's by passing the stored value.

When you return to the program (with the sliders in a different position) the LEDs return to the stored value. When you touch a slider, the LEDs change to the value of the slider-

Well let's just hope they'll give the user the possibility to select which way the faders should behave. It's surely technically feasible and could be implemented with a firmware upgrade.

Assuming it is the same as the Wave 2, the present fader behavior is fine with me. Always nice to have an option, but certainly not a necessity-

Numerous boards do give you the option of "jump" or "catch." There's also third variation which scales the remaining values from the current position, so unless you're already at an extreme, it eliminates both the jump problem (abrupt change of sound) and the catch problem (having to move the control past some point before it does anything), but if you're at or close to an extreme, you've still got a problem. The best solution for knobs are endless encoders which are always in the "right" position.
AFAIK, not counting the times they have used endless encoders, every Nord knob/fader has used the jump method. With the LED/slider combination, catch would be a nice option because the LEDs half-solve the catch issue. Normally the problem is two-fold... you have to move the control past the "current value" position AND ideally you want to have some sense of what that position is (so you know where you're aiming to move the control to), and LED's solve that second issue. But off-hand, I don't think Nord has ever before used the "catch" method.
