Re: NORD STAGE 4 officially announced for February 16th 2023
For those Nord folks only using one keyboard with no add on extern synths/computer etc...Would it be fair to say that using the NS4 alone would get the job done fine? You would have 3 synths to get more out of it. For example using one synth layer with a sample sound equalling 3 total for whatever song you need them for... That is a huge jump to not needing the extern option for someone like me! I for one bought my NS3C because I wanted to size my rig down for many reasons. One being I do a lot of front man work in my band sometimes using a Keytar doing so slaving my S3...So I'm not stationary to a keyboard postion. Still would like to see some kinda tool like mentioned before to make it easy to load my samples/sounds from the 3 to the 4...
Then I would park my 3 using the 4.. I would also have a backup board if I would need incase of a breakdown...

The NS3 alone does the job as well. The problem comes when you need to use acoustic sounds... which IMHO are terrible within the Nord library, and the lack of multi-sampling capabilities does not contribute to create realistic sounds. And NS3 you have 2 synths, but 2 externs. 2 synths in some cases may be limiting...hernjov1 wrote:For those Nord folks only using one keyboard with no add on extern synths/computer etc...Would it be fair to say that using the NS4 alone would get the job done fine? There are some compromises needed as far as some of the sounds on the NS3... One of the biggest for me are the brass sounds... Hope Clavia read some of our post on sound improvements!
A whole new library of nice thick brass sounds would be nice! The current brass sounds are thin and not thick sounding...With the stage 4 you could possibly use the third synth like in a octave brass sounds to thicken for one...

I used to sample my sounds from existing libraries adding an octave down brass sound to make it thicker. The sampling in the Nord world is easy and effective.hernjov1 wrote:There are some compromises needed as far as some of the sounds on the NS3... One of the biggest for me are the brass sounds... Also there is a Nord Brass Expansion that has nice brasses for 30 euros.

In addition I saw on youtube the trick to add an Organ to the brass sound. This worked fine for me on gigs.neomad wrote:I used to sample my sounds from existing libraries adding an octave down brass sound to make it thicker. Yes, I did that as well. Actually I was adding Organs to pretty much everything to enrich harmonics, or/and octave up/downs, works perfectly !

Funny you guys mentioned using organ sound! I do that as well! You would just think that you should be able to just use brass sounds, and not have to thicken it up with an organ... Most the brass sounds right out of the box aren't warm enough... You would think that Clavia would give these new brass sounds out for free since that's what Nord is about. Always getting free sounds for their boards... One reason I bought a Nord as well... I did check out the brass expansion 2 and obviously you have to pay for it...

That must be a 3rd party offer - there are no Nord sounds you can purchase separately. Do you remember where they were from?hernjov1 wrote:... I did check out the brass expansion 2 and obviously you have to pay for it...

SynthCloud. The solo instruments have a nice character, the rest start to sound the same to me, but I'm not a heavy brass user.FZiegler wrote:That must be a 3rd party offer - there are no Nord sounds you can purchase separately. Re: NORD STAGE 4 officially announced for February 16th 2023
I'm looking forward to seeing how the brass samples sound on the NS4. On the NS3 I've found that using the LP M or LP HP filters (wide open) gives me a fuller sound to work with than the others. To your point about adding the B3, it's hard not to like it with a lot of things - sort of like baconneomad wrote:Yes, I did that as well.
