SteveNordP3 wrote:Nord has a niche and they are (in my view) the best at what they do. But I think every manufacturer in this space needs to be worried about iOS sound engine capabilities and/or create them directly (e.g., Korg Module). It’s not ready for prime time yet, but it won’t be too long before truly outstanding sounds are available on an Apple device that could be dedicated to the purpose and then the question is which keyboard controller(s) does the user prefer to assemble the components of his/her rig. While I love my Nord Grand and expect it to last the rest of my life, if I were a touring musician these days, I’d be very tempted to build my sound capabilities in that flexible manner rather than dedicated single purpose hardware/software. Everything ebbs and flows - a few decades ago it was all controllers and rack mounted modules, then fully integrated/dedicated units, and I think we’ll see a shift back to components but the majority of sound generation will be on iPad/iPhone/Android devices.

I sometimes play the Ravenscroft 275 from my iPhone controlled by my Nord Grand and it’s one hell of an experience! I also have a cheap and light MAudio 88-key controller - 13 pounds and feels terrible - but I can easily take it camping with me and play while traveling and I can use it to trigger the Ravenscroft, Korg Module with Ivory, PurePiano (when it next goes on sale) or anything else…

What do I know? :-)
I’ve augmented my hardware keys with a PC-based 3U rack VST player (nicknamed “Music Deceptor”) w/Gig Performer. Between NI Komplete, Arturia and Omnisphere I have a lot of options in addition to my Nords.

True, that file only shows the timeline of their keyboard products, it doesn't include drums, monitors, accessories etc.
Looking back on their history, it's amazing that it took them 12 years to release the first non-drum synth!
From then on, their growth was tumultuous in comparison...and we're here complaining they don't release enough products!

It was just a question and was not meant as criticism at all.

No worries, I haven’t take it as criticism. Just wondering why this is a topic at all and no one from the competitors user is ever even thinking about this

The reason is quite simple, that until a few years ago Clavia maintained a small tradition of giving away one or more new samples for Christmas. Therefore the question, whether they will perhaps take up this tradition again?
With the other manufacturers there are very well "gifts", even if not necessarily at Christmas. Yamaha, for example, has provided new piano and electric piano samples and a new Leslie sim for the CP/YC models free of charge in recent years.
