Have you even tried them out in real life? How can a piano even be disgusting, maybe they were out of tune from people loving them too hard? I have tried all non-concert grands from Yamaha, Kawai and Steinway. And in my opinion they al sound great but I think the Kawai sounds the warmest, Yamaha more metallic (in a good way) and Steinways are so much more expensive and surprisingly they dont even sound better, just a little different. That's why I have a Kawai RX-2 in my living room. Also, I have met some excellent piano players who prefer Kawai concert grands over anything else.
But back on topic, I have found that while playing solo through headphones the EP7 does not seem a huge improvement like the Wurly 2 is. On the live hand, it cuts better when playing live due to better higer end. Or at least that was my perception

Yes, infact i have played most major piano brands. Mostly of course in conservatoire and venues all around. And it's safe for me to say that Steinway is by far the best, in that very same league will probably be Yamaha CFX some bosendorfer, fazioli and if i'm pushing my luck here then bechstein could well be included. Bluthner has a very flat sounding tone with less colour than others. Whilst kawai lacks colour as a whole. Judging those comes from playing some Classical pieces not Poppy tunes. And trust me trying to play a Chopin Fantasy on Kawai is a challenge!
Personal observation of course, it may well be totally different when it comes to sampling.
Soratech: i think it's safe to say that taste is taste and yours alone.
Also, there is a substantial difference between Steinway (Hamburg) and Steinway & Sons that is rarely addressed when people talk about loving Steinways.

@ Horacio: yes, i think your're absolutely right. the new amped rhodes feels (and sounds) totaly different - due to a different velocity response.
today i was able to test it for the first time (with headphones). at first i thought i had the auto wah on or the eq at a drastic setting - but no.
i also hear what Mr._-G- says about the room sound and agree (i'll see how this is gonna work with the reverb of my amp).
at the moment i like the new sample very much (sound & velocity response). i can see playing it on "small" gigs when i use my stage (classic compact) as my sole piece of equipment. i love to play the rhodes (until today i used the "E.Piano 1 Mk I Deep 4.4") with a masterkeyboard (hammer) through a small tube amp (peavey classic 30, 90s version) and the organ and synth with a small fullrange box (RCF ART 310 A MK III).
to be able to test it i had to make a hard decision (due to the limited memory of my stage classic). i had to kick out the new amped wurlitzer i began to like. when trying to figure out which rhodes i will get rid off and which i will keep, i came across different versions of my loved MkI Low Deep. the 5.3 version has an added bell-like sound in the middle register (starting at the D right above the middle C) compared to the 4.4. version. i'm not sure which one i will use. i have to check it in a band setting and especially with my tube amp...

Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Hello all. Got a NE3HP a while ago now...loving the new stuff Nord is releasing...but not liking the memory limit so much...!!
Just wanted to share a recording I did over the weekend using the new stereo electric grand amped (just a touch of onboard chorus and reverb). I like how it came out. Hope you don't mind me posting the link here.
Nbrooks: this is very nice! You set a high standard.
Now I dare not share my latest projects ... he, he ... I'm really stuck with the Wurly 2 amped - it has that extra bite I want. The Rhodes is very nice all alone, but easily disappears in my mix? Right now I'm into ballads with female vocals. Perhaps I will share something, as soon as the girls allow it.
NE3HP, NP88, NS2, DPP1, NL2X, NL2X, NLA1, NL4, NE5D, NW2 (Collect Them All?), some classic Rolands, Arturias, a Waldorf, a Kurz, a WONOK3, a pile of guitars, a P-bass, loopers, amps and computers ... I'm a gearslut!
Regarding jimmy's question, if anyone here could suggest an approach that would come closest to producing an "amped" sound in performance where one is using a high-end powered speaker (QSC, JBL), that would be good to know. I think that is the most common application among those on the forum. I will be uploading the two new Rhodes sounds and the new Wurli today and while I'm sure I can (and will) experiment, it would be good to know if these samples were intended to work with or without the onboard EQ and amp modeling. Also, if anyone has uploaded these sounds, I would be interested in knowing if the higher register is cutting through in performance. The older Wurli sample that came with my EL4 is practically useless in this respect, and the Rhodes that sound best to me overall also have this deficiency in the upper register. EQ and Drive help but not enough. Thx!

Welcome to the forum, mate. I just meant whatever they were "intended" to, you can do whatever you want as long as you like it, even hijack Clavia's intentions.
In the 50ies, some guys would damage their guitar amp speaker with knifes because they once noticed they sound grittier that way. Now we find proper distorsion pedals. Mind you! Invent your thing
