I never said “sweating”, but an 88 key YC stage piano is around $3K and is pretty on par with a Stage 3, at least on the surface. And the YC88 only came out last year.Mystic38 wrote:I don't know why?.. I doubt that Nord are sweating the YC -MarkJames wrote:
Will a 3X or 4 be released soon? Only Clavia knows, but given Yamaha releasing the YC they should at least be considering it.
I have had the NS3c only two months.. and the YC was out. I did not see the YC as offering better value for money than the NS.
anyway, I am sure Nord is working to its own timeline, not that of Yamaha.

You think those waiting for an updated Stage hibernate?Elias wrote:Yes, entirely acceptable. But is it hope or something counter-productive? Definitely not. And I'm not talking about waiting. Waiting is peaceful and restful. What I'm sensing here, is something else.Valpurgis wrote:You think those waiting for an updated Stage hibernate?
I'd love to think that it genuinly isn't hindering their music making. But for all I know, it will, if you don't already know when such a product is coming.
I've been stuck before, like I wrote earlier. I spent a lot of time yearning for things that did not exist. In fact at some point, hibernating would have been a better option.

It really isn’t. It’s roughly equivalent to an Electro, albeit with less freely configurable sample libraries.MarkJames wrote: an 88 key YC stage piano is around $3K and is pretty on par with a Stage 3, at least on the surface.
The Nord giveth; the Nord taketh away…

Re: Nord Stage 4
You are implying that the YC is a competitive threat to the NS3 and if you are suggesting that there is an equivalency between the YC and the NS3 in sound quality, features and usability such that the price is important then imo it simply is not there..
I clearly stated "I do not see the YC as offering better value for money than the NS3" so am directly saying that to entice me to purchase a YC it would have had to be even cheaper ( a lot cheaper).
and fwiw pretty much every single keyboard is cheaper than the NS3

Fair enough except it does have modulation and pitch controls (although not as capable as the Stage’s)analogika wrote:It really isn’t. Can’t disagree with your last statement. Although when I look at Thomann USA I get jealous of the European prices.

I have both, NS3 and YC61... and can't be compared really.analogika wrote:It really isn’t. Current Keyboard Rig: Nord Stage 3 compact, Yamaha Montage 7wh, Yamaha YC61, Alesis Fusion 6HD. Yamaha babygrand Piano. Extra sounds Ipad with AUM and plenty of synth apps + onsong pro

Re: Nord Stage 4
I'd say it's positioned about halfway between the Electro and Stage, even in pricing. It has some important features that the Electro lacks, but is overall not as powerful and versatile as the Stage. Surely it's more (much more) than "good enough" for lots of people, especially after the latest update that significantly improved the hammond and leslie emulation.analogika wrote: It really isn’t. But I'll leave the detailed comparison to Anotherscott, the grand master of stage piano feature analysis!

Re: Nord Stage 4
In a nutshell, It's basically an Electro with pitch bend and mod wheel, having a great class compliant audio card (one cable and 1 ipad and you have a dream synth on it) + audio in, handles 4 zones for external keyboard, and new update bring the hammond emulation beyond Nord's one. But no VA, no sampler, only 1 split point, 3 internal parts only, no morph, etc. The keybed of the 61 version is simply a bad joke.
This is a great review, before that the latest update that really changed a lot of things: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/yamaha-yc61-cp88
The most important? the YC sounds amazing, it's easy to carry and will get you covered on most circumstances, if not all.
