(resolved.. ish...) Nords going back to dealer after issues.

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

It seems Lew has been experiencing an extreme case of frustration exacerbated by other well documented issues and precipitating a near meltdown. Can't say I blame him entirely, all things considered. I'm with my pal Lew on this one, hope to see him back when things get sorted.

So my song about brevity didn't sink in. Here's my strategy. I write the rambling and seething reply I want to write. Then I delete everything that's not useful or funny. Every now and then there are still some words so I press submit.

Seeing Lew leaving the forum is a pity since he gave a lot of valuable comments and tips, but at the same time it looks a bit oversensitive to leave the community because of a comment of just one individual. There was no shitstorm or attack from a lot of members, and even though I admit that Lew being blind makes it hard to read between the lines or get the real sense of some comments I think it would have been the better way to answer and clarify if some posts have really been meant as it was perceived by Lew instead of getting away immediately. This forum is in no way comparable to a number of other forums I am or was active in, where a sworn community is bashing everyone who is not fully in line with their opinions, it’s the opposite of this. I therefore hope that Lew will rethink his decision and comes back, realizing the positive atmosphere which is here most of the time

I don’t know that this should be turned in to some referendum on Lew’s departure and to be frank - I wouldn’t want to walk a step let alone a mile in his shoes. Some folks seem to have an unfair share of horrific circumstances dumped on their laps and from all I could gather from Lew, he puts in an exceedingly admirable fight. I can’t begin to imagine a day in his life and whatever his experience was with the failing products seems like the proverbial last straw. Not being in his skin - I can’t possibly judge his complaint. In comparison my life seems incredibly easy and I whine about the least important things. Here’s a guy who has had more to deal with in the past few years than I’ve had in my entire life.

I don’t believe any one single person is the cause of Lew’s departure from the forum - he’s a free moral agent and decided for himself. I did cringe at the replies that tended to chide him for whining or making bad choices in shipping vendor or what have you. In real life - it’s hard enough to know what others are going through. That’s magnified 1000-fold in anonymous online forums like this so words not at all intended to wound can certainly have that effect.

Hoping Lew gets it all sorted, gets a break (God he could use one), and comes back here welcomed with open arms.

This is what I call a "hosanna forum." If you're not here to sing hosannas about the products, or humbly ask for advice from the Seers and Sages in the group, then you'll need a thick skin.

Ouch, that hit close to home. I've only been a member 2.5 months now.

The amount of information is amazing. But sad as it is to admit it, I self-censor, I laughed when I read CountFosco: > I write the rambling and seething reply I want to write. Then I delete everything that's not useful or funny. Every now and then there are still some words so I press submit. <

For me, it isn't that complicated. This forum is owned by somebody else, probably Johannes, doesn't matter. If I want to come post on his forum, I abide by his rules.

He even gives me the option to delete my profile and posts!

I propose we end this discussion soon. I don't know why Lew deleted his profile. I'll miss him. But I don't need to rehash it.

Live and let live, I say.

Unless a poster devolves into Clavia/Nord is incompetent/malevolent, or persistently whines about something their instrument or Clavia doesn't do that would have been discoverable with pre-purchase investigation or during the warranty period, this forum is ultra-friendly.

Unlike a lot of forums, I've rarely, if ever, seem a terse RTFM response to a newbie. In fact, the usual response is a link to the manual and/or section where the answer could be found, if not the answer itself.

No one here espouses that Nord is the be-all/end-all, but this is mainly a group of enthusiasts who like their Nords and want to get the most out of them. So, if someone joins to post unfair invective, they're going to get pushback, just like they would on any other enthusiasts' forum.

If you want get help, learn how to enhance your use of your instrument, and to help others, you do fine here. If you're here to be provocative, discourteous and lack basic etiquette, it's disingenuous to be surprised or shocked when disagreement is posted in response.

I echo your sentiments. I think it would be wise not to continue with this thread. None of us know whether Lew is still reading (listening) to this forum so anything negative could be even more damaging. I hope and pray this issue gets sorted out so that he can continue to rebuild his life.

I just want to chip in one last time on this. I've realised this forum is a Nord 'enthusiasts' forum (kind of obvious really), which is a great place to discuss the positives of Nords and mutually enjoy their unique products, getting tips and extra info along the way. It is NOT a neutral unbiased 'help' type forum for Nord products. So if you have issues that make you dislike your products in general, or you just decide you don't like Nords for whatever reason, and want to express this strongly on here - you'll probably get argued with here in my experience. People will disagree with you, as they are already Nord enthusiasts.

It's good to be aware of this from the outset, then you'll know what to expect and can enjoy the forum for all its many good aspects.

If you're unhappy and have problems, we'll try to help. If you're not interested in solutions or resistant to help, or just here to shitpost…yes, this is an "enthusiasts'" forum.

There are additional avenues of conflict here:
1.) assigning blame to Nord/Clavia for something which isn't their fault, or where the situation was badly handled by a third party.
2.) ranting about something which is obviously (well, "obviously" to some) a well-contemplated Nord/Clavia design or business decision, and which changing would run counter to the very reasons enthusiasts are enthusiastic for these machines. Wanting to turn the Stage into a Kronos, or Clavia into a Behringer fall into this category.
