We had actually, before they hide the 4.0 library page, there was a note saying only compatible with NP5, NS3, NE6, etc.

TimGadget wrote:Yep I too cannot load NSMP4 into my Stage3. hi analogica, is your compatibility source super-reliable, noting the quote is in the present tense re compatibility but its not so as yet (https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... library-40 is access denied for mere mortals if it was there)... would be great for an official statement from Stockholm.
Of course not, the current OS only allows 3.0. To load 4.0 you need a new OS update + release of 4.0 library

well the page in question was just a draft, copied from the lib 3.0. At this time the text was exactly the same as in lib 3.0, just a copy/paste... in hindsight, this absolutely does not guarantee the content.

With latest Nord Sound Editor, you can already save as nsmp4, see below

Ok, but what's the point if it's still a beta format, not officially released, not mentioned anywhere and not supported by any Nord instrument except the P5? It's clearly all a work in progress: they'll announce it, and almost surely release OS updates to make it compatible with other instruments, when they're ready. Until then, there's little we can do. ;)

It is clear that they are moving to a new sample format which will be supported by all the current instruments, E6, Nord Grand, NS3, Piano 5 and Wave 2. All will require updates to support the V4 format, but I don't think Nord has ever done a mass update like this. It is likely to contain other fixes and enhancements for all of those instruments. For example, there has not been an update for the NW2 since last October-

According to the new Sample Editor 4 online guide (at the end of the guide), only the Piano 5 is compatible with NSMP4:
The “Config” menu provides a setting for Default Output Format for sample instruments. This setting is used when no Nord is connected, and its options are NSMP 2, NSMP 3 and NSMP 4. Choose the appropriate format according to the compatibility lists below.

NSMP 4 Instruments
Nord Piano 5

NSMP 3 Instruments
Nord Stage 3
Nord Electro 6
Nord Piano 4
Nord Grand
Nord Wave 2

NSMP 2 Instruments
Nord Stage 2 / 2EX
Nord Electro 5
Nord Electro 4
Nord Electro 3
Nord Electro 3HP
Nord Piano 3
Nord Piano 2
Nord Wave

Just finished reading that, but I cannot imagine they will go forward with only one instrument supporting the new format. The original leaked URL claimed support as well for the present NSMP 3 instruments, but we will see.

The Nord piano 5 is the first of a new generation of Nord instruments. It gets new (especially) samples features that other Nord don't have.

I guess it will be the first to be compatible with Nord sample library 4.0. It makes sense to me.

I agree, I think the reason why they only stated the Piano 5 is because, as for now, that is the only one whose OS currently supports it, all the other instruments needing an update, an update that might come soon or it might come in several months... So, for now, it makes sense to only mention the P5.
