where do I make a Truth of what one thinks? Don´t twist what I wrote. That is my point, that we have different approaches and wishes. And.... it´s not about focusing on the best imitation, it´s about inspiration you can get when you play an instrument.

- limitations can sometimes be turned into positive things
- We are looking to be inspired to play, not to geek out on LCD screens and menus
- $4k is a lot of $$$ these days and Nord needs to hear about those agreed upon complaints about quality, because if they don't, they will soon be gone (they have earned a good place on the market that their competitors will only be too happy to take if they don't continue improving/innovating)
- Stevie Wonder can make music that sells out of a set of casseroles

I think I missed a part of your point because of this sentence of yours: what would say a classical pianist if he/she was given an upraght for playing Beethoven?
But, ok, we are basically saying the same thing: to each their own

To be honest, I've been wandering on musical gear forums for... pfew... too many years now, and I think I have developed a allergy to complaints. Most of the time, I succeed in avoiding getting into the debate, but sometimes it wakes up: I misread something and stupidly jump in the empty pool
I've read so much people complaining about the Rhodes here that I'm probably starting getting bored of it -no offense meant to anyone, again: to each their own and no one forces me to read, huh?

Obvisouly, I will be glad too when Clavia will provide us with sounds people are awainting for!!

After spending many days programming, and playing at live, I'm very happy with it. I've checked every sound available on the nord piano library. Really impressed ...however....etc....

Hola Guillex! I'm not talking of you but in general.
There so many people angry with their Nord....
In my life i did have a lot of keyboards, from almost every big makers, and if any of them doesn't was good in some aspect, always i tried to up the ante with the next.
I knew perfectly what i was buying when i purchased my Electro 4D. And i had others powerful keyboards in sight and for less money !! And I choose this one with less memory, monotimbral, without split capability, one layer only samples, etc.... I think i was crazy....

All of these are true, but I don't think Nord is greatly at risk. No other manufacturer is taking the approach the Nord stage takes, to my knowledge. Yes, they need to keep improving it, and doubling the storage capacity is inevitable for the next generation, but as it stands, there is no real competitor for the whole package.

"No competitor" in the sense that while a Kronos or a Kurzweil or a Casio or a Motif can fulfil similar roles (and much more), they are a completely different class of product. Any one of them will do one or another thing better or preferably over all of the others, and if your primary interest is Rhodes, you might be better off elsewhere, but as the whole package, the Nord stage is unique.

If they "improve" it too much, they risk losing the simplicity and directness that makes it so special (I still prefer the simplicity of my old Electro 2 over the Stage 2 in some regards).

As a rhodes hammond clavinet player, i can say that each vintage keys has his history, his sound. For instance, neo soul keys decided to release personal "dirty", "barky" rhodes sound. Why not, i don't like them very much... But nothing sounds like "the real thing" in terms of expression, velocity, artefacts noises, release bells barks etc, and for the high prices, the nord rhodes aren't at the level / prices. No no and no. Please, don't forget these gear cost an eye ! We can expect better sound than those old ones now. Because today, i search a keyboard, lighter than the mk1 for gigs and rehearsal. And i don't know what to buy.

The Rhodes limitations are in principle fixable. There is no need for hardware or software changes, just adjusting the sample that they already have. Clavia has done this before (like with the CP70/80 and Wurli samples). If they manage to improve the Rhodes sample, they would make their products even better. Perhaps being a small company this takes longer than one would wish, but I am optimistic that something will be done about it.
