Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
After spending about an hour trying them out yesterday, and an hour just fooling around with the NS2. I feel the new EP7 has an added "realism" to it, but I still prefer the tone of EP1. Then comparing to every other EP, I liked EP 7 better, before I always carried the Mark V sample, but I liked this one better due to having a vastly improved high end.
That said, I will keep both EP1 and EP7, as I feel the EP7 could be of use for dirtier stuff, like funk. But I think none of them matches the dynamics of the Wurly 2 Amped, when playing dynamics, its the only sound that satisfies me when playing Yes's Long Distance Roundabout, as it can go from soft to very harsh with great contrast.
As for the CP70, I liked it better than the original, but does anyone else feel that it sounds like a jazz guitar? Or is it just me? Also, agree that it sounds totally Toto!
And here is my piano bank, I feel the XL is not so different sound wise from the LRG (specially since I do not have the Triple Pedal). Instead, I have some harpsichords just for fun. Saludos,
Gustavo

I hate to say it but i'm disappointed too…SurfSynth wrote:Hi all,
am I the only one who is a bit disappointed by the EP7?
I wonder where are the 31.1 MB, find it "metallic" and don't get a good program with it.
Much more inspired by the new Wurli...

Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
I tried EP7 today. It's nice, but I'd have to take out EP2, EP5 and the Wurly to make room for it in my E3HP. It's not worth it.
I use EP2 and EP5 a lot. I use the Wurly less, but removing it doesn't make enough space.
With these newer pianos in the Library, E3 owners are starting to get shut out.

THE CP-70 ROCKS!!!
The new Rhodes and Wurly are REALLY cool too! They have a very special character and I can see me using them a lot.
Now, sound-wise my favorite Rhodes library is still the EP-2 Suitcase so I hope we will be getting more of those new high quality Rhodes samples to choose from!
CLAVIA!
P.S.: The undampened Wurly treble reeds again start at the wrong key! I find this a little bit irritating. I wonder what caused the decision to do this.

Hi folks,
Am I the only grumpy person here to claim the detuned lower octaves in latest CP sample?
I dig the sound, but bad tuning can easily ruin the whole thing.
As far as I can remember, you can easily check it with playing octaves in region B0/B1, C1/C2.
(Also Sparkletop sample is inaccurately tuned about A2.)

Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
@odd_meter: no you are not alone, but *perhaps* the CP80 is a stretched-tuned piano. See one of my messages above
http://www.norduserforum.com/general-no ... tml#p40429
which includes a link to a tuning graph.
It is the same as in the "old" sample, so I wondered if it is a re-processed sample with additional samples or the same old instrument sampled.
It is detuned about -20/100 to +20/100 at the extremes, which seems to be the common drift in stretched pianos. But of course I do not know if this is just by chance or on purpose.

Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
The detuning of the CP70 is indeed because a stretch tuning is used. The stretch tuning is more severe than on a real piano because of the shorter strings on a CP70 compared to a real piano.

Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
Just wondering - how does the CP70 get to be stereo sampled? I thought they were mono.
In Wales, no one will hear you scream.

Cp70 is stereo.
Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
I found out that for me the new rhodes sample works better with some radical eq settings: eq low -11, eq mid at 5khz +1, eq high +13
