The whole thing lives and dies, to me, with how the distortion responds. The demo after 9:10 or so seems promising, as does 12:30 onwards, though the full-out after 12:50 sounds decidedly like plastic to my ears…same thing that bothers me about the Stage 3. Can't put a high-cut on it (the classic "make a digital clone sound organic" trick), because you need to push the high EQ a bit to make the drive bite. :-/
In between, there's some nice grinding tranny organs.
Will have to try at Superbooth in May.

If I hear it well, he talks about Nord working to capture sound and also IRs from recording a real Leslie, then those IRs could have been used for comparing with the result of the Nord Rotary emulation algorithm and improve it for the NO3, not necessarily just as playback of those IR "as is".
Otherwise I'd expect Nord to put the "IR" word big in the Rotary section of the Nord Organ 3 specs (as you also @Afghanza noted before), but it is nowhere mentioned there.
Yep, that makes sense.

That's the second or third NAMM video that mentions the use of IR in the development of the new Leslie emulation. My guess is that they came up with a circle of IR measurements around a real Leslie cab, and used those to calibrate their emulation. I bet it sounds glorious.

Still seems like a bargain compared to the full XK5 which sits at a higher price once top and bottom manual are in-cart. Nord is upstaging the SK X Pro with this. It'll be interesting to hear how the reworked Farfisa Compact and Vox Continental models sound.
I don't totally agree. The SK X pro has many features that the Nord organ doesn't.

Here we can listen to some Presets, I´m not shure if this sounds significant better than the organ 2:

Listening to a sound in a video is difficult. I never judge based on videos or audios, I believe that one can really judge on how an instrument sounds by listening to it directly, and even then based on amplification.
