I regret not buying the original PG-800 at the time (could not afford it). There is also a hack described somewhere in the net where changing a single resistor makes the aftertouch more sensitive.
Let me join the club of proud JX-8P owners! This was the first synth that I bought myself way back in high school when it was new and I still have mine from 1985, including the receipt from purchase, which I made with a USS A-frame stand and a Peavey KB-300 amp, which was a beast of an amp that got me through many years in that era when powered speakers weren't as sophisticated as these days. I added a PG-800 a few years later and still have it.

My JX-8P has held up pretty well. I had the aftertouch worked on and battery replaced (I think) at some point in the early-mid '90s. I also stock-piled some spare keys as I started breaking them after too many gigs. Mine is very careworn, with a lot of the finish worn off around the pitch/mod stick. A few of the keys are a little sketchy and I have it set up permanently in my home music room, on top of my CP-80. I have my Prophet-6 MIDI'd to it and find that I like the mix of these two things, played from the P6 keyboard.

Back when I was looking into the JX-8P, I was completely enamored by Nick Rhodes' keyboard rig in Duran Duran, which prominently featured the Jupiter-8. I couldn't afford a JP8 at that point. My girlfriend had a Juno-106, which I loved and thought I'd want to get. Then I tried a JX-8P and I was sold on the dual DCOs and touch sensitivity + aftertouch. Way more complex timbres were possible. I used it faithfully for many years.
Nords: NE2, NS2 88, NS3 Compact x 2
Live rig: NS3, Vent, Radial KL-8, Shure PSM-900 IEM Rig, UE18 & UE7 IEMs.
Studio: Hammond A-101 & Leslie 122, Yamaha CP-80, Yamaha S90, NS2, DSI Prophet-6, Vent II, Roland JX-8P.

Maaan, you've married her, right?! 8-) :D

Funny how this Stage 3 EX thread is becoming a JX-8P thread somehow.. I like it!
I'm currently rehearsing with my first Nord Stage 2 EX + MainStage setup. I've used the Stage exclusively up until now.. :keyboard:

I got a JX-08 in January but haven't played it a lot, since the volume can only be set globally per part, not saved per patch, so I can't use it live.. love the JX-8P sound, though!
MLVSTs PG-8X is also not an option, because I can't get it running on Apple Silicon...

One thing's for sure... I'm excited for a new Nord Stage 4 whenever that may be released! Hoping they bring back the S2 MIDI functionality..
Add 2 additional synths or sample engines and ADSR for Filter and Amp Env, MIDI features, maybe multi-layer custom samples and I'm sold!

Nord can also implement the S2 midi features in the NS3 without waiting for a new product.

By the way, how’s the Numa organ sounds like?

M1tsos, you post your "predictions" on here pretty often (daily/weekly/monthly?), as well as on the Nord groups on Facebook. Do you truly have an insider connection with Nord? Or are you just doing this often enough so that when something happens, you can proudly say "I told you so!" even if it was random luck that you happened to make a prediction about the NS3 EX or whatever?
Hahahaha first i post them when someone start a topic about it.. i am not having any inside info.. i just taking the facts, dates , develpoment upgrades etc.. and getting some conclusions.. and ofc i like the prediction game :)

If my predictions come true and come all of them 100% then i will be happy that i do good research..

At the end i like just the conversation we all have :)

The only inside info i have is that no one will get stock for nord grand and stage 3 before july and if they get it it would be old stock from other sellers. The last time nord told me that was at February which might change.

The out of stock is affecting everything these days, not only semiconductor related, but a lot of raw materials, food, etc. IMO, there is no sign of a new product but a real supply chain constraint.

I have some news for you all, I think that there will be some Nord stage 4 with 4 synth layers hence its name, no 3 ex.
Please bare in mind that this is news about my last thoughts and unrelated to any reliable source since I may change my mind.
Thank you for reading so far. I've also read a few posts in this thread hoping for some amazing insights.

Yes, judging from the current situation here in Germany, the new Nord will be built of silicon chips, wood, vegetable oil, and toilet paper.
