The natural vibrato is build into the sample, not done by a separate vibrato function of the synth section. This makes it available to the Piano 4 and Piano 5 which have not included vibrato in the synth section like the Stage 3 and the A1 have.

Did you saw the video I uploaded ? I can only see the exact same vibrato function that have been in previous Nord models. And with DLY ( shortcut for delay) with 3 different settings, or off. If it is possible to turn off, then it’s not part off the sample.

But that's exactly what makes it so useful on a Piano: You choose a sample with vibrato, but that's not there from the beginning, but comes in smoothly after a second or so. Without need to control it in any way.

I don't have any idea if for that function some info is needed inside the sample format or not.

In previous Nord *Stage* models.
Vibrato was never available in the "cheaper" Electro and Piano lines, which also never had pitch bend, modulation wheel, morph and aftertouch. All together, these features greatly improved the usability of the single-layer nord samples, which by themselves are quite "sterile" and inferior to other brands' sample libraries.
Now having vibrato, legato and unison also on the Piano (and most probably in the Electro, via firmware upgrades and/or future models) makes the sample section much more useful.

What it seems to store in the sample is the rate setting, that you can change when holding shift and pressing vibrato button. So if I have the Oboe sound and change the sample to a flute, the vibrato rate change. The Dly off/1/2/3 don't change. The amount doesn't change either, or the examples I checked all had the same amount. :-)

I watched the video, the new additions are that kind of small but quite useful improvements you can only expect from companies like Clavia (they could have never bothered upgrading the Sample Library format and nobody would've complained in the slightest). Since the Electro 6 is amongst the supported keyboards, I wonder how the vibrato will be implemented: they might end up using the Dynamics/Filter button, unless they opt for a more sophisticated approach.

I was about to write the same. And I’m wondering if there’s a way to set the portamento time in mono legato samples. If they would give us the opportunity of making our own mono samples, it could be implemented in the nsmp4 format itself... but who knows.

I cannot load NSMP4 into my Stage3. a quote has been posted in the present tense re compatibility with Stage3, Wave2, etc not mentioning Piano 5, but its not so as yet (I appreciate an OS update could solve that) it would be great for an official statement from Stockholm, does anyone have any reliable news ?

Yep I too cannot load NSMP4 into my Stage3. hi analogica, is your compatibility source super-reliable, noting the quote is in the present tense re compatibility but its not so as yet (https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... library-40 is access denied for mere mortals if it was there)... would be great for an official statement from Stockholm.

we have absolutely no confirmation that NS3 will support nsmp4...
